Emiliana and Michael met at a bar through mutual friends in Hoboken, NJ in the pre-Hinge days of 2010. Michael had just graduated college and moved to the city; Emiliana had been living there through her undergraduate studies with her pugs, Bibi and Bowie. Michael's friend spied Emiliana eyeing Michael from across the bar (which Emiliana vehemently denies). Michael thought he would break the ice by asking Emiliana about the current mayoral race. Little did he know Emiliana was passionate about a certain candidate: Frank Raia. What Michael anticipated as light-hearted banter turned into a twenty minute diatribe about viaducts and city plumbing by Emiliana. Suffice it to say, Michael was intrigued. Emiliana and Michael spent the next year getting to know each other before she left her beloved New Jersey to pursue her education in veterinary medicine in Tennessee. They continued their friendship and before long it blossomed into something more. They decided to make it official on April 15, 2012. Emiliana and Michael were able to hang on to their love for the next three years as she gained her doctorate in veterinary medicine and he his master's degree in accounting and certification in public accounting. Afterwards, Emiliana moved back to Hoboken for her internship and they did the sensible thing: went from long distance relationship to living together. They survived this year and then moved on to Boston as Emiliana continued her career and completed her residency in emergency and critical care. Through it all their love continued to grow stronger and stronger. After much publicized debate they settled on their next Revolutionary city to start their real life together: Philadelphia. But first, Emiliana had to sit for her specialty boards in Washington, DC. Michael arranged to meet Emiliana after she finished her exam and popped the question along the Potomac River in Alexandria, VA. All despite Emiliana's concerns over a looming parking ticket.
