Our Story
Jake and Claire first met in 7th and 8th grade, where Jake developed a crush that Claire (repeatedly) ignored. In high school, they had a random run-in at Dick’s Sporting Goods shopping for basketball shoes. Jake told his mom, “That’s the love of my life,” but Claire didn’t hear that story until later on. That encounter restarted their friendship. At 15 and 16, they began dating on December 5, 2017.
Since 2021, their relationship has survived long distance, college life, and more miles than they can count—Rhode Island, Maryland, Florida, and Ohio included. With Claire attending Florida Gulf Coast University (and later moving back to Ohio to help start their family ice cream shop) and Jake balancing life as a D1 football player at the Naval Academy, their time together meant tight schedules, brief visits, and lots of games. After nearly a decade together, Jake proposed in Annapolis in October. They're excited to eventually be in the same place (god willing) and start their next chapter.
