Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Paul Doscher and Cindy Henderson
Chappie's

Chappie's

53535 New York 30, Roxbury, NY 12474

Cute little restaurant right in town. We loved the baked brie, smoked trout, cheeseburger, and pizza (lots of different kinds). Apparently if you do an Austin Powers impression you can upgrade your regular fries to truffle fries for free. We stuck with regular fries because Paul chickened out but if you do upgrade please send us a video of your impression. Solid local beer selection. We love Catskills Brewery- Devil's Path IPA and Ball Lightning Pilsner are our favorites so far.

The Old Mill

The Old Mill

2318 County Road 41, Roxbury, NY 12474

Bar-restaurant right in town (next door to the Roxbury motel). Per their website, they offer "good, wholesome, unpretentious foods to warm the soul; local beers, crafty cocktails and tasty wines will provide much needed sustenance to all". We came here after our tasting to check it out. We were stuffed from all the amazing food from our venue so didn't get the chance to really indulge, however it was a cute and cozy little space. We did try the hanger steak crostini with horseradish aioli which Cindy is still convinced is the best steak she has ever eaten in her life. Go see for yourself.

Watershed

Watershed

53470 New York 30, Roxbury, NY 12474

"Roxbury's front porch." Cute little cafe right along the main road that serves coffee, breakfast, and even smoothies. This was our go to spot for breakfast. We're obsessed with the breakfast burrito and smoothies. Conveniently located right next door to the wine & liquor store.

Pratt Rock Trailhead

Pratt Rock Trailhead

Prattsville, NY 12468

Considered the "Mount Rushmore of the Catskills," Pratt Rock is a must-hike while in the area. We did this hike while visiting for our tasting and it was definitely one of the more interesting and historic ones we've done. While it is a short, 3.1 mile round-trip it is fairly steep! (we may have been huffing and puffing on this one) You'll gain 900+ feet of elevation and get a spectacular view of the surrounding valley from several points along the trail (see Cindy in above photo at one of the best view points- more photos of this hike in our gallery). Hiking up to see the stone carvings is a must. Plus you can catch your breath on the stone bench that's been carved into the wall. According to legend, in 1815, a young man named Andrew W. Pearse needed overnight accommodations. Zadock Pratt offered him a place to stay and, in exchange, had Pearse carve a horse into a nearby rock. After that, Pratt had other carvings made into the stone to commemorate his achievements.

Woodstock Brewing

Woodstock Brewing

5581 New York 28, Phoenicia, NY 12464

Brewery located 35 minutes from the venue. Nice outdoor space (doggie friendly), good food, cold beer, and amazing mountain views! What more could you ask for? This is also where we celebrated booking our venue. We recommend the Raspberry Gose Sour Ale and Woodstock smash burger!

Kaaterskill Falls

Kaaterskill Falls

Hunter, NY 12436

A little bit of a drive (about 50-60 minutes from venue) but well worth the trip, especially if you love hiking and a good water fall! Kaaterskill Falls is a two-stage waterfall standing at a massive 260 feet. Check out our gallery for photos from our visit! We can't wait to see your photos in front of the falls!

Rail Explorers: Catskills Division

Rail Explorers: Catskills Division

70 High Street, Phoenicia, NY 12464

Not into hiking but still want to take in all the Catskills have to offer? No problem! Located right in Phoenicia is the Catskill Pedal Rail. Take part in “The River Run” and ride the railroad tracks right alongside Esopus Creek for the opportunity to discover the picturesque woods of the Catskill Mountains. The best part? Woodstock Brewing and the famous Phoenicia Diner are just down the road so you can eat and drink back all the calories you burned from pedaling! See more about the diner below!

Phoenicia Diner

Phoenicia Diner

5681 New York 28, Phoenicia, NY 12464

There's a reason anytime you drive by the Phoenicia Diner that the lot is so full of cars they begin to park alongside the highway! The Phoenicia Diner has a long history of serving customers who are drawn to the Catskills' natural beauty. The prior owners nurtured the Diner and its customers for nearly 30 years. The Diner offers visitors fresh food sourced from Catskills and Hudson Valley farms when available. Fun fact: It served as the on-screen "Pips Bar and Grill"in hit show Severance!

Cindy’s Farm Stand

Cindy’s Farm Stand

54265 New York 30, Roxbury, NY 12474

Half a mile north of downtown Roxbury, on Route 30, Cindy offers free-range eggs, and whatever is in season. You’ll find her shed on the right side of the road, with her name big on the side of the small structure. We may be biased because of the name but who doesn't love a cute farm stand on the side of the road!
