In light of COVID-19, we wanted to check in and let you know that your safety is a top priority. We have unfortunately decreased the amount of in-person guests attending the wedding; however, we are extremely excited to have a live-ceremony option for those who can not attend due health concerns.
Ben and I started dating on 11/12/13, the coolest anniversary day ever right?! We had been best friends for about 4 years before that, and I think that friendship is what makes what we have so special. We seamlessly dated for the rest of high school, and eventually made it to the dreaded long distance college relationship. We were only two hours away from each other, but when you spend all day every day with someone before that , it feels like forever. I hated being so far away from Ben and not being able to see him every day, but honestly our time apart at college made out relationship even stronger. We had the opportunity to independently grow as people while our relationship allowed us to grow together. Ben and I made it through long distance college fairly easy with weekend visits, plenty of football games, and hours upon hours of phone calls. After I graduated from App State I moved only an hour away from Ben to Wingate University which was amazing! When I wasn't studying we could see each other every weekend, and even some nights for dinner. It was during the end of my first year at Wingate that I decided I was tired of not being with the person I love every day. I told Ben I was ready to make our relationship official, forever and ever. He had been saying to me, "just tell me when", every time I mentioned marriage to him for the prior three years, and in December I finally told him it was time. I eagerly awaited the next three months for Ben to propose, and on March 8th, on top of a beautiful mountain in Boone, he did. Since then we have been as happy as can be, and look at each other almost every day and say "we're getting married!!!" with the biggest smiles on our faces. Ben has been so incredibly loving and supportive at every step of our lives so far, and I am truly grateful to have the chance to have him by my side for the rest of it.
It was late on November 11, 2013, when I got a text from Ashley saying that Alexis wanted me to ask her to be my girlfriend the next day! In true Alexis fashion, she planned to have our anniversary be 11/12/13 beauce that’s the “Coolest anniversary date ever!”. We had been friends before then and (even though Alexis won’t admit it) she had already turned me down twice before! We had been dating for about a month at this point but weren’t official yet. I think we both knew that we had something special growing between us, so I was pretty confident on this third try. We finished high school and went off to college, 2 hours apart. Long distance was very hard and we had a lot of bumps in the road. At the time, I hated being so far away, but now I think it might have been the best thing that could have happened to us. If we could make it through that and still love each other, I knew we could make it through anything! Sophomore year of college, I bought a ring. I held on to this ring for years, telling Alexis whenever she brought up marriage, “Just tell me when”. I meant that, so when she finally gave the green light, I was very excited! I told my parents my plans, met with Alexis’s parents to get their blessing, and of course made some upgrades to the ring! Then, on May 8th, on top of a mountain I asked Alexis to marry me! I know that this is just the first chapter in a very long love story. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with not only my best friend but also the person that brings the best out of me. There will be many more laughs, hugs, and fun times ahead!
