I was working in downtown Minneapolis, slinging drinks at an interesting Sushi joint called Zahtar. Heidi had just started working at the wellness spa in the Lifetime Fitness, who also owned Zahtar. I remember being in a conversation with a patron or possibly a coworker when the most beautiful creature with gorgeous eyes and the brightest smile I'd ever seen came walking in. I think I did a double take. It was the most enjoyable 75 feet I had ever watched anybody walk. From then on, I made a big effort to say hello whenever possible and maybe slipped her a free glass of wine here and there, just so she'd maybe stick around to chat a little longer. She finally extended the offer of watching the weirdest Joaquin Phoenix documentary, I obliged and the rest is history.
Heidi and I both share a love for Beatles music. Cinco de Mayo 2016 to be exact, Paul McCartney was coming to the Target Center for a show and it was something we were not going to miss. Prior to Paul, we had been getting into conversations about tying the knot. Kind of a "shit or get off the pot" deal. I can take a hint. We met our friends Scott and Liz for some libations to take the edge off before the show. I definitely remember choking down some Grape Apes... Anyways, Heidi's favorite Beatle's song is Blackbird and being one of Paul's signature songs, I was banking on him performing it. Low and behold he did! And it was great, Heidi was in tears, all was going to plan, so I got down on one knee and popped the question. She said YES! The rest is history.
Why get married in Copenhagen? We have been asked this question many times. Copenhagen has consistently been ranked as one of the happiest places on earth for the past 40+ years. After watching an episode of a travel show, we were intrigued to visit. In July of 2015, we were fortunate enough to make a trip there and immediately understood why it got ranked #1. Everything from the food, green spaces, people, history, and architecture was really amazing. Yes, it is a challenge to get there, but it is definitely worth the experience. Traveling has been a great part of our lives. We hope you can share this adventure with us.
