Our Story

Look, what started as college friends running around Greek Row at Washington State University (Go Cougs!) turned into something neither of us saw coming. And honestly? It only took a cross-country move and a few years to figure it out, which in Gen Z relationship terms is basically lightning speed. After graduation, life does what life does. It scatters you. Heather ends up in grad school in Providence, Rhode Island. Matt's building his career, lands in town for his very first work trip with a new job. The timing? Like, suspiciously perfect. The universe was clearly up to something. So here's where it gets interesting. Matt, finally working up the courage, asks Heather out on what he very clearly knows is a date. Heather? Completely oblivious. Has no idea what's happening. It's like watching someone miss every single hint in a romantic comedy. But Matt's determined. He's got a plan. And as Heather would later describe it, he throws a "Perfect Game", does everything exactly right to win her over. Over Italian dinner, they catch up on three years of life, sharing stories, rediscovering that easy connection they'd always had. And when they seal the evening with a kiss, something just... clicks. You know that moment? When everything suddenly makes sense? That's what happened. As Heather powers through her final semester of grad school, Matt becomes a frequent flyer between Bend, Oregon and the East Coast. Because here's the thing about love, when you know, you know. And sometimes it's worth a few thousand frequent flyer miles. After Heather graduates, they move to Redmond, Washington, Matt's hometown. They're building their life together. Proud DINKWADs (Dual Income No Kids With A Dog), channeling all their energy into their black lab, Scarlett, who has basically become their four-legged child and the undisputed ruler of their household. But their adventure wasn't done yet, they're about to pack up and head to Rochester, Minnesota, where Heather will be working at the Mayo Clinic. And now our story continues with the next chapter, come celebrate with us at Elkins Resort at Priest Lake on June 20th, 2026. This place holds special meaning for the Heidenreich family, Heather's grandparents have had a lake cabin here for over 50 years. It's been a lifelong dream for Heather to get married here, and on June 20th, 2026, we're all going to make it happen.
