FAQs

We realize 'A weekend in the woods' can mean a lot of things. Here are a few questions we suspect you may have. If we have not answered your questions below, please feel free to reach out to either David or Miranda!
Question

What can we expect during the weekend?

Answer

You can expect a good time with our closest friends (and let's be honest, we have some great friends)! Friday will include a welcome dinner, fireside s'mores, and trivia. Saturday morning will include your choice of a guided hike on the 250 acre nature reserve, yoga, and/or lawn games. The big show will be Saturday afternoon / night followed by dinner and a dance party. On Sunday morning we will have a brunch to relive the memories from the night before and say 'See You Soon.'

Question

What are the accommodations like?

Answer

There are four lodges on the property with 12-16 rooms each. Each room has its own bathroom with shower. We'll assign rooms once you register. But if you want to share a room, there's space! Examples of configurations: - Two sets of bunk beds with a double bed on the bottom - Two sets of twin bunk beds with a queen murphy bed The lodges are rustic, but have indoor plumbing and electricity. Get ready for organic cotton sheets, but please don't forget your own shampoo!

Question

What sorts of COVID protocols will be in place?

Answer

Thankfully the majority of our guests will be vaccinated by the end of July. However, we realize that social distancing / masks may still be important and we will follow all recommendations from the Washington State Department of Health and the CDC at the time of the wedding. We have made sure that those who would like to eat outside and enjoy the Seattle summer may do so (Miranda and David likely will be).

Question

What kind of food can I expect? What do I do if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

IslandWood is known for their food, so please come ready to eat fresh, in season, local food. For those with dietary restrictions, the chef can accommodate with a little advanced notice. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any dietary needs so we can ensure you are as comfortable as possible.

Question

What does 'Summer Cocktail Attire' mean?

Answer

Your favorite dress or suit without the tie. We suggest flats or wedges as you will be walking on uneven terrain.

Question

What is the bar situation?

Answer

We know you are wondering, so we thought we'd get ahead of it. There will be ample beer and wine available throughout the weekend. The property does not allow outside alcohol (or marijuana), so please do not bring any with you.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Yes, Yes, Yes (So long as they dance)! We love you and we love your kids, please bring them to the party!

Question

Can we bring our pets?

Answer

We love your pets.....however with the exception of certified service animals, pets are not permitted on IslandWood property.

Question

What is typical July weather in Seattle?

Answer

July and August in Seattle are beautiful. Expect sunny weather between 55 and 75 degrees (as they jinx the wedding).
