When we sat down to discuss our wedding, the first thing we both said is that we just want to be able to spend time with those we love and care about the most. This is important during any year, but even more so as we come out of the COVID pandemic. To enable this time together, we've designed a weekend that is half elegant wedding, half summer camp. IslandWood is a 250 acre nature reserve on Bainbridge island, a 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. With accommodations on site, you can roll out of bed and explore the forested trails, pond, meadow, garden, two treehouses, suspension bridge and canopy tower. Friday night will be fireside s'mores and Saturday will be hiking and lawn games followed by a fun party. This weekend is all about spending time together and celebrating those who have made us the people we are today. We would be touched if you spent the entire weekend with us!
Miranda knew David was designing a ring, so David had to pull out all the stops for a surprise engagement! As a head fake, he scheduled a weekend away to the mountains hoping that Miranda would assume an engagement. Which she bought, hook, line, and sinker :-) That week, Miranda and David went to 'have dinner' with one of David's closest friends. As they approached, David told Miranda that they would be having dinner on the rooftop, the rooftop where they first said 'I Love You' 21 months earlier. Their friend met them downstairs but realized 'she forgot something' and let David and Miranda go to the rooftop alone. None the wiser, Miranda was more concerned about being cold. As the doors opened, David had a walkway of candles leading to a quilt made by one of Miranda's closest friends. As Miranda would say, 'David said some nice things' and got down on one knee to propose. They toasted with their favorite bottle of champagne and their weekend away turned into a engagement celebration!
