Heather: "Julie, I'm worried you're not trying to meet people and that if you wait to try dating, you'll forget what a first date is even like." Heather's friend Julie: "But I just want him to show up on my front door." Heather: "Well THAT's never going to happen!" Flash forward a month or so. Heather pulled into her driveway during the middle of the day. And a man came running over to her. He said: "Excuse me, I'm recently divorced and looking for a house for sale in this neighborhood. Do you know of any for sale?" Heather had recently decided to give up on dating altogether and devote her life to being a mom and volunteering, so she didn't mention she was single. (Yes, she was that jaded.) But something told her that this stranger had shown up for a reason. So she shared her business card and asked the man to email her for her realtor's contact information. They emailed a few times and he connected with Heather's realtor. Flash forward a few more months. Heather decided to close her Match.com profile, but when she saw she had three months left on her subscription, she made her profile visible to prospective suitors, thinking she might as well get her money's worth. And lo and behold, she popped up as a match on Rade's account when late at night he was checking his daily matches. He instantly remembered her from their "driveway meeting" and that same night, emailed her a long, excited message asking for a date. They met for coffee, then dinner, and fell in love. So now, Heather can never tell friends not to count on fate. Because sometimes, when you least expect it, love begins right on your very own doorstep.
