We met on the 40th floor of the US Bank building in downtown Milwaukee at a Creative Arts Council (C.A.C) meeting. Jeff was there presenting a rail-to-trail project he was working on with his friend, Keith. Heather was there because her friend, Francie, thought it would be a good reason for them to get off the farm in the winter. We briefly chatted after that first meeting but things really didn't kick off until Jeff posted an ad on craigslist... He was "looking for a roommate" and had shared the post with our C.A.C sub-committee. Though it was an ad for a roommate, it read a bit more like a personal ad (nice work, Keith). Someone who enjoyed riding bikes, cooking food for other people, and drinking IPAs? Heather was intrigued and soon developed a crush. There were other meetings and brief encounters leading up to a fated moment in March of 2013. The C.A.C was throwing a music festival. In the car on the way there with Francie, Heather made a vow: "If I run into Jeff today, I'm finally going to talk to him." Heather walked into Club Brady to pick up the event tickets. Jeff was sitting at the bar, right by the door, and was the first person she saw. And now we're getting married.
