While Triathlon is an individual sport, life is best experienced with someone you love. They met through an Ironman Singles Group and went into a race weekend having both nearly given up on dating. On a random message Heather invited Chris to dinner with friends at an Italian Restaurant in Williamsburg, Virginia. Little did they know that they would leave that dinner firmly imprinted in one another's thoughts. As the weekend began and they playfully learned about each other under the guise of race preparation he couldn't help but notice her smile and she couldn't help but notice his legs. As race morning came Chris and Heather both knew that the event was only a means to getting back together. The race would prove to be a life-altering event. Heather invited Chris back to the campsite to help tear down before grabbing dinner. This invite would turn out to be the segway to their first kiss... Through visits and weekends away Heather and Chris trained not only for future events but for life together as they couldn't seem to stay off one another's minds. Each weekend ended with anticipation of the next and with every departure came an increased yearning to put an end to the goodbyes. The day began and ended with texts, FaceTime, and expressions of a bond growing ever stronger. As the months rolled by it became apparent that someone would have to move. The five-hour drive each week was wearing on not only the vehicles Chris and Heather owned but on each other. Chris ultimately quit his job in Charlotte, found a new one in Virginia Beach, and they made the leap to move in together. After spending Christmas in Charlotte they loaded up the Uhaul and started a life together. They eased into living with each other without skipping a beat. A few months later Chris planned a weekend of running and biking in Williamsburg .... ending at that same campsite. He got down on one knee and proposed. She said Yes!
