Things To Do

` We're so excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you. We've listed some places to visit first, and then we've included some of our favorite restaurants and bars.
Tidal Basin

Tidal Basin

20245 National Dr, Washington, DC 20024

Our first trip to Washington DC was for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. During our walk around the Tidal Basin was when we decided the Odyssey would be where we would have our wedding.

National Mall and Memorial Parks

National Mall and Memorial Parks

971 Ohio Drive Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

When we finally made the decision that the Odyssey would be our venue we took a trip back to DC to decide on where we'd like to have the ceremony. Sunrise at the National Mall is gorgeous and without hesitation we both decided there was no better place than here.

The White House

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20500

You can't visit DC without seeing the White House. Always a stop on our list when we visit the city.

The Wharf DC

The Wharf DC

760 Maine Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

The Wharf is where the Wedding Reception will be, but this area has countless things to do. Come explore this vibrant area with restaurants, retailers, fun things to do, and a one mile boardwalk on the Potomac with gorgeous views. Stop in the evening and have a smore around a firepit and relax on a cozy Adirondak chair by the water.

ARTECHOUSE DC

ARTECHOUSE DC

1238 Maryland Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

For Amber's birthday we had a date night at this immersive art show to see Twilight - Hidden Wonders of the Ocean. We had a surprisingly delicious drink that "came to life" and spent almost 2 hours taking in the experience. An innovative leader in the field of digital and experiential art, ARTECHOUSE expands the possibilities of art and how we experience it through cutting edge technology-driven exhibitions and experiences.

Metro - Washington DC

1078 G Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

The metro system in DC is easily navigable using any smart phone map system and changing the directions to the Train/Bus icon. You can use your phone to tap and pay for your fares or purchase a card at the rail stations. We typically purchase a 1, 3, or 5 day pass and then can get on/off wherever/whenever we would like and not have to worry about trip fares.

SPIN Washington DC

SPIN Washington DC

Throughout DC, Washington, DC 20004

There is no better way to get around DC than by downloading the app SPIN and riding around on a Scooter. They are easily located throughout the city and the app is easy to use.

Big Bus Tours Washington D.C.

955 L'Enfant Plaza Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

International Spy Museum

700 L'Enfant Plaza Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

East Potomac Golf Links

972 Ohio Drive Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

The Salt Line

79 Potomac Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

Another great food spot we enjoy, sitting by the water is one of our favorite things to do and this is within walking distance of the area. Dine inside or eat outside around a fire pit and enjoy good food and oysters.

Dacha Beer Garden (Navy Yard)

79 Potomac Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

If you enjoy trying craft brews like we do, this is your spot. With over 20 different beers on the menu including gluten-free you will find at least a few to enjoy. While you are here, we recommend trying their juicy burgers and house-made chips.

Chicken + Whiskey

70 N Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

We love our whiskeys, and Chicken + Whiskey doesn't disappoint. It's exactly what the name says: They have Chicken and they have Whiskey...99 whiskeys to be exact (yes, go ahead and count them). Without a doubt one of our favorite places to go and if you happen to be closer to downtown they have a second location at 1738 14th St NW with the whiskey bar hidden behind a restaurant cooler door as one of the fun Speakeasy's DC has to offer.

Silver Diner

1250 Half Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

A great brunch spot with a fun location by the ballpark. Amber loves the Power Breakfast and Heather likes to order off the seasonal selection menu; most recently enjoying the Lamb Merguez Shakshuka, but whatever your taste buds are they will have it down to Apple Pie Stuffed French Toast.

Silver Social

1250 Half Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003

If you are looking for a fun Brunch this is another great spot. With Bottomless Brunch (Mimosas, Bellinis, Bloody Marys and Cocktails) and a Social Dining Experience, this is a fun spot to get the day started.

Zaytinya by José Andrés

701 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Heather's favorite restaurant features Turkish, Greek, and Lebanese dishes. I would definitely recommend trying Crispy Brussels Afelia and the Turkish Style Pastirma.

Sports & Social DC

1314 U Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

For all of YOU sports fans...we did NOT plan a wedding in October on a Saturday or a Sunday for a reason! We fully understand it's the greatest month of the year with fall weather, football season in full swing, October Baseball, NASCAR, and Hockey season starting. This is an awesome spot to take in sports with numerous TVs and outstanding food you can't go wrong. I'm sure at some point we will end up here cheering on OSU, PSU, Ravens, or hopefully the Baltimore Orioles. On our last visit, we became Nebraska fans if you'd like to know that story just ask, regardless, you will always have a good time at Sports & Social.

Hank's Oyster Bar

Hank's Oyster Bar

701 Wharf Street Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

Our favorite place for Brunch, stop and have a Build Your Own Bloody Mary with a list of garnishes and enjoy some fresh oysters.

For all the days along the way
