We are so excited for our family and friends to join us from near and far in Houston. Sharing the start of our new life in our home-city with you is very special to us. Thank you for traveling such a long way!
In June, we traveled to Europe for a 2-week, 8-country tour. It was romantic from the start and Jessica thought Adam might use the opportunity to pop the question. But the days went by and we had an amazing time, yet no proposal. Little did Jessica know that Adam had big plans for our 3rd day of the trip that got foiled by terrible rain in Paris. On day 8 of our trip, Adam planned a day off the tour in Rome for just the 2 of us. We started the day by visiting Michaelangelo's Keyhole, a peephole in a door to a secret garden with tall, well-trimmed hedges framing a stunning view of his namesake's dome of St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican in the distance. Then, we walked around the courtyard of the church next door and explored an outdoor art show. And after, we strolled down the road to visit Giardini degli Aranci, the garden of oranges. As soon as we stepped foot into the park, we could hear the sweet sounds of a guitarist playing Eric Clapton's ballad Wonderful Tonight. Orange trees adorned a pebbled pathway and people were milling about enjoying the sunny day. There was magic in the air. As we got closer to the busker, we saw an overlook that provided a spectacular panorama of the city of Rome. We stepped up and soaked in the view, and at that moment Adam got down on one knee, pulled out a ring he had been carefully hiding throughout the whole trip and asked Jessica to marry him. And she said yes!
