"Eleventy-First Birthday" by Nicole Gustafsson
Question

What to Wear

Answer

The general aesthetic is celestial carnival/wild rumpus –– think Bilbo Baggins' eleventy-first birthday party; Where the Wild Things Are; Moulin Rouge but everyone is wizards; or the 1973 movie Wicker Man (minus the horror). Animal masks, stars and moons, garden witch, turn-of-the-century circus, full Gandalf cosplay, Carnival Ringmaster Gandalf cosplay -- anything you want! It doesn't have to be too crazy, and the guests coming from outside of New Orleans may not have such things lying around, so regular old fancy dress is also totally okay. But if you /do/ have a star-embroidered tailcoat lying around, wear it! There will be a parade after the ceremony and we highly suggest bringing at least a flower crown, an animal mask, or some deer antlers for that event.

Question

How Do I Get to the Venue, i.e. Y'alls House?

Answer

If you rent a car, there should be a decent amount of parking in the neighborhood. If you're wearing comfortable shoes, the Saint Charles Streetcar lets off nine blocks from the house. The #11 Magazine Street Bus lets off two blocks from the house, so if you're looking to take public transportation that is the better option. And you could always take a Lyft/Uber/cab.

Question

Will the Weather Be Hot?

Answer

Probably! But not necessarily. Cool weather is not unthinkable in mid April and it never hurts to pack a light jacket or shawl just in case.
