Things To Do

One of the best parts of visiting Washington, D.C. is that so much is free! Journey down just a few blocks from your hotel and you'll find the National Mall and the monuments. You can also visit the Smithsonians (the National Portrait Gallery and Sculpture Garden are closest!) for world-class museums. Below, you'll find some more attractions and restaurants we think you'll love. These are some of our favorite stomping grounds and a few hot spots close to the hotel. Have fun exploring!

Eastern Market

225 7th Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003
, (202) 698-5253

This indoor food market adds an outdoor market on the weekends filled with goods from local artists. Also, it's right in our neighborhood! :)

Ice Cream Jubilee

301 Water Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003
, (202) 863-0727

ice cream.... yum. Lots of interesting flavors too that change seasonally.

Nationals Park

1500 South Capitol Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003
, (202) 675-6287

...play ball!

Union Market

1309 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, (301) 347-3998

food, drinks, and shops oh my!

Ted's Bulletin

1818 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 265-8337

Breakfast is served all day, their milkshakes are to die for, and did we mention that they have homemade pop-tarts?!? (There's also a location near Eastern Market on Capitol Hill)

The Wharf DC

The Wharf DC

1100 Maine Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20024
, (202) 314-5759

Beautiful views and lots of amazing restaurants to try. Plus, catch a concert at the Anthem!

Hill Country Barbecue Market

410 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20004
, (202) 556-2050

...because there's nothing wrong with a little bit of barbecue.

Crimson Whisky Bar & Diner

Crimson Whisky Bar & Diner

627 H Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Cafe, diner, and more importantly, whiskey bar.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

8th St NW & F St NW, Washington, DC 20001
, (202) 633-8300

Walk around one of D.C.'s most beloved museums, just blocks from your hotel. If you, like Ben, despise art museums, you're also in luck. There's a beautiful open-air atrium in the middle for coffee, people watching, and sometimes concerts and performances.

Sculpture Garden at the National Gallery of Art

Between 7th and 9th Streets along Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20408
, (202) 216-9397

Once upon a time, Rachel and Ben had their first date: ice skating in the Sculpture Garden. While May weather isn't conducive to ice skating, we highly recommend a walk around the garden. On Friday nights, the garden is a hub for free jazz and not-so-free sangria. Get there early for a good lawn spot!

For all the days along the way
