The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center is an Athens must-see! True has many memories attending school field trips or weekend visits with his grandmother, Marsha, here at the fish hatchery. This facility holds an astounding 300,000 gallons worth of indoor and outdoor aquarium tanks that host and display native fish, alligators, and amphibians! Fun fact: True and Audrey actually spent the afternoon of their two-year anniversary here!
Looking for a place to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature? Look no further than the East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society! Settled on 100 acres of land, the arboretum offers lovely gardens and walking trails in the heart of Henderson county. The arboretum is also home to the Wofford House Museum, a display of a home built in the 1850's restored and reflecting its pioneer history. Fun fact: True and Audrey spent the morning of their two-year anniversary here!
Coming in to town early? Eating at Railway Cafe will make it worth it, though it's only open Tuesday-Friday! We recommend arriving early, as there is usually a short wait time. We would vote that they serve the best tomato soup in east Texas, but you'll have to try it for yourself!
Established in 1969, Ochoa's is a fan-favorite for guests near and far! Though we would be content to fill our bellies with their tortilla chips, signature salsas, and house margaritas, we haven't had anything on the menu we haven't enjoyed!
Frequented by Trinity Valley's students, Callaway's Coffee & Bistro knows how to serve a good cup of Joe! Although he isn't an avid coffee drinker himself, even True recommends stopping in for a hot (or cold) tea or a snack!
