Douglas and Hailey technically first met in May 2022 at work in Memphis, TN. Douglas and Hailey worked at the same bank (on different teams) and Hailey was asked to join a meeting that Douglas was in. She remembers walking into the conference room and noticing him immediately thinking, "I've never seen someone like him at the bank!" At the time, Douglas has just moved to Nashville the year prior (originally from North Dakota) and was a remote employee at the bank. Hailey lived in Memphis and reported to the bank's office every day. The chances of them crossing paths were slim. Fast forward to August 2022, Douglas traveled back to Memphis, TN for a company meeting. The evening event was a casino night social hour (that Hailey planned). She was there early setting up and a blackjack dealer offered to teach her to play. So she sat down, but soon noticed this dude hovering behind her, watching. She turned around and it was Douglas, impeccably early. She invited him to join her. He grabbed a cup of chips (we were playing for fun) and he began stacking his chips. Douglas turned to Hailey and asked, "Are all these green?" which Hailey thought was a joke... but Douglas admitted to being colorblind. Hailey confirmed his chips were stacked perfectly correct, and they talked the rest of the night. After that and an official first date, Hailey & Douglas were inseparable. They traveled back and forth to see each other, and Douglas made it official asking her to be his girlfriend on 8.28.22 on Percy Priest Lake. They enjoyed long distance dating for many months, but as June 2023 approached, Douglas' lease was ending. Hailey asked Douglas to move in with her and move to Memphis. It was a temporary fix until they figured out where they wanted to plant roots. Hailey & Douglas enjoyed living in Memphis (especially being close to family and such amazing food), but when Hailey and Douglas both got amazing career opportunities, both working remote, they knew they could live anywhere! The house hunt began in early November 2023 and by December they were homeowners! They moved to Lebanon, TN in January 2024 and are embracing the joys of maintaining a home (our favorite quote is "there's alllllwwwaaayyys something" lol!). Their love continued to grow over the months in their new city. July 2024 Hailey spontaneously suggested a trip to Destin, FL for a getaway. Behind the scenes, Douglas carefully planned (in 1 week) a proposal to remember. Douglas proposed to Hailey on Crystal Beach on 7.12.24. It is a moment they both will never forget. And now, they are carefully planning their wedding day, sure to be full of many family and friends from all over the USA. They can't wait to see everyone! P.S.
