Illinois' Original Burger King
Looking for a quick bite to eat or some ice cream with the family? You have to try this Burger King! ...and no, this Mattoon gem is NOT related to the fast food chain Burger King. What started as an ice cream shop in 1952, the Hoot family registered their restaurant name as Burger King in 1959 and was later advised to trademark the name. The results of a 1968 federal suit with Burger King of Florida lead to the multinational Burger King chain being banned from operating within 20 miles of Mattoon, IL filed under the same name.
Starbucks - Where Brittany worked!
Stop by the Starbucks where Brittany worked as a barista and a shift supervisor! This is also where Ryan would hang out when he was in town visiting and Brittany had a shift scheduled...they took her lunch breaks together! <3 Order our favorite drinks! Ryan loves a good Cafe Misto, Brittany loves an Iced Coffee with caramel and almond milk, and they BOTH love the Strawberry Acai Refresher! Mmmmmmmm.
Mattoon Peterson Park
Who doesn't like going to the park? Right? Ryan and Brittany enjoyed the Mattoon Light Works event during Christmas time! They host various events throughout the year, but you can enjoy the playground with you kids, lots of space to walk, or stop by Vinnie & Al's Mini Golf!
Lake Charleston
Many dates were had at this beautiful, scenic walk around Lake Charleston! This is where Ryan and Brittany first held hands! This is a great place for a family walk, photos, or even to get some exercise and stretch your legs! They have a playground for your kids, too! We hope you enjoy this place as much as we have...bring a coat too incase it gets windy!

Ever wonder where Ryan and Brittany had their first date? Well, this is the place! It's gluten friendly for Brittany! Good choice, Ryan ;) Enjoy a quick meal with authentic Mexican food and great service!
Jackson Avenue Coffee
Open from 8am-3pm, this place has great food, drinks, and sometimes live music! Ryan and Brittany love grabbing a coffee from here and bringing their favorite board game to play!
Jimmy Johns - The Original Store #00001
This Jimmy John's is home of the first store location! Although the store has been renovated since, you can walk in and learn all about the history of the first original store built right here in Charleston back in 1983! So if you like history, sandwiches, or free smells....stop on by!
Cracker Barrel
Can you say "breakfast all day?" Ryan and Brittany can! They would eat here often and it didn't matter what time of day it was, it was never a bad time for breakfast! Ryan and Brittany would always order the Old Timer's Breakfast with double meat! Stop by if you have the same cravings!
