Our favorite local coffee shop and the one we frequent the most! Jake usually goes for the Ranger Mocha, while Maddie prefers an oat milk latte.
Our FAVORITE chocolate ever. The shop is located two blocks from Maddie's old apartment, so she and Jake would always stop in to get their chocolate fix. We cannot say enough good things about this place, and the owner, Christine, is a gem.
A tried-and-true favorite of both the bride and groom, and another restaurant Jake took Maddie to long before the two started dating. The pizza here simply can't be beat; a thin, crispy crust cooked in a wood-fired oven, and topped with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. Maddie recommends the margherita pizza; Jake recommends the pepperoni with spicy honey added on top.
You can probably guess that the bride and groom like Italian food. We frequent this place often now that we're living across the river. Classic dishes and seasonal specials, plus they have a great wine and beer list. They also have a deli if you're in need of a quick lunch.
This is the coffee shop where we met for the first time as adults. The atmosphere is good. The coffee is better. We recommend the latte.
Jake's favorite ramen place, now also Maddie's favorite ramen place. Jake's a foodie, and it was one of the first places he took Maddie once they'd reconnected. This is a great spot to warm up if you've been out in the cold winter rain!
Maddie's favorite brunch place in Portland. You can't go wrong with their oatmeal blueberry chai pancakes. (Yes, you read that correctly.) Jam offers a fantastic selection of vegan, vegetarian, and traditional breakfast foods, so there's really something for everyone.
Craving some incredible, inexpensive Italian food? Look no further than Grassa. The menu boasts unique takes on classic Italian dishes, and everything is delicious. Jake recommends their carbonara; it's classic, yet has a modern twist. Grassa has locations in both Vancouver and Portland, too!
Maddie used to live across the street from the art museum. If you have the time to stop in, it's always worth a visit. Check out their website for a current list of exhibitions.
A beautiful, laid-back breakfast and lunch spot, located in the Pearl District of Portland. It's within walking distance to some lovely parks, weather permitting.
