Sunnyside Trail
One of Hayley's favorites. Best to hit this one in the morning hours.
Ute Trail
1000ft of gain in 0.9 miles. Short and sweet aerobic workout. Great views of Aspen from the rock outcropping.
Grottos Trail
Waterfalls, large boulders, ice caves, and multiple short trails. Located a short drive up the beautiful Independence Pass.
Upper Lost Man Trail
Truly a must do. A beautiful drive up Independence Pass. Wildflowers and high alpine lakes.
West Maroon Pass
This hike connects Aspen to Crested Butte. Absolutely beautiful. Wildflowers. Multiple lakes. Great views. There are some logistical considerations involved; contact Hayley or Ryan if this hike interests you.
Arbaney Kittle Trail
The local Basalt heiney burner. Great workout and great views.
Bike Ride: Rio Grande Trail
The Rio Grande Trail winds through Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt, Snowmass, and Aspen. No motorized vehicles on this trail. Great for bike riding - casual or workout style.
Bike Ride: Woody Creek Tavern
Hop on the Rio Grande trail, ride to the iconic Woody Creek Tavern, and have a margarita for your efforts. This tavern is essentially a Hunter S. Thompson shrine. This tavern was the daily hangout and unofficial office for the gonzo journalist.
Bike Ride: Maroon Bells
This road has restricted access to vehicles and is a beautiful ride with scenic views of the iconic Maroon Bells. You can ride into town afterwards and have a snack.
Scenic Drive: Ruedi Reservoir
Yes, believe it or not we have a Yacht Club in the valley. Not only is this a great scenic drive from downtown Basalt, but you can also water ski, sail, stand-up paddleboard, kite surf, and fish here.
Scenic Drive: Independence Pass
An absolutely beautiful high mountain pass that crosses the continental divide and connects Aspen to the Front Range area.
Hot Springs: Avalanche Ranch
Quiet and beautiful hot springs to relax your body after all of the physical suggestions listed above. Ensure to make reservations. AND, most importantly, ensure to grab a pizza at the Propaganda Pie down the road in Redstone.
Hot Springs: Iron Mountain
"Doc" Holliday, the famous gambler, gunslinger, and DENTIST, famously came to Glenwood Springs in 1887 hoping the hot springs and vapor caves would cure his advanced tuberculosis. They did not. However, Iron Mountain has 32 mineral rich hot spring pools terraced along the Colorado River.
