FAQs

Question

How do I get to Toulon?

Answer

Most guests will be flying into either Marseille Provence (MRS) or Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE), both about 1.5 hours from Toulon by car. We recommend renting a car at the airport if you plan to explore the region, which we strongly encourage you to do. If you are not renting a car, Toulon has a main TGV train station with direct connections from both Marseille (about 30 minutes) and Nice (about an hour), and taxis and Uber run from the station to Le Mourillon. For full details on flights, airports, and getting around once you arrive, head to our Travel page.

Question

I don't speak French. Will I be okay? (general)

Answer

Completely. Most people in the main areas of Toulon and Le Mourillon speak at least some English, and a warm smile and a bonjour go a very long way. We have put together a French 101 guide on this site (see Toulon Recommendations Google doc under Things To Do) with all the phrases you will actually need, from ordering coffee to hailing a taxi. Check it out before you go.

Question

Do I need to have cash? (general)

Answer

Yes, carry some. France is increasingly card-friendly but smaller cafés, markets, boulangeries, and some taxis still prefer cash. Having €50 to €100 on you at any time is sensible. ATMs are widely available in Toulon and Le Mourillon.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Garden attire. September in the South of France is still warm and beautiful, so think light, elegant fabrics. The ceremony and cocktail hour are outside on the terrace, and the reception moves indoors with air conditioning as the night goes on. The dress code is relaxed but elevated.

Question

What language will the ceremony be in?

Answer

The renewal ceremony will be in both English and French. You will not need your French phrasebook for this part of the day, but it does set a rather nice tone for the evening ahead.

Question

Is there an after party?

Answer

The short answer is: the reception goes until 4am, so in many ways much of the night is the after party! There is no separate event planned after that.

Question

How do I get home from the venue?

Answer

We will be running a shuttle from the venue back to Best Western La Corniche and Hôtel Les Voiles at the end of the wedding night, so if you are staying at either of those hotels, your ride home is taken care of. Just look for the shuttle at the end of the evening and we will get you back safely. If you are staying somewhere else in Toulon or at the venue itself, you will want to arrange your own transport in advance. Uber is available in Toulon but availability late at night can be unpredictable and surge pricing is a reality, so we recommend booking a local taxi ahead of time or coordinating with other guests to share a ride back.

Question

I have a question that isn't answered here.

Answer

Reach out to us directly and we will get back to you. This is going to be a wonderful few days and we want everyone to feel as prepared and relaxed as possible before they arrive.
