Have an explorer bug? Then hit up the Greenbelt trail head at 2201 Barton Springs Rd. Plenty of nature, pups, and great people watching!
Barton Springs Pool
Barton Springs is a natural spring-fed pool, with a year-round average temperature of 68 degrees. It is absolutely stunning and we highly recommend you check it out!
Bat-Watching on Congress Avenue Bridge
A viewing tradition at the Congress Avenue Bridge, flight of the largest urban bat colony (1.5M) takes off about 20 minutes before sunrise and before sundown.
Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden
Right off of South Congress Ave and one of our favorite spots! Indoor and outdoor seating with food trucks, coffee, full bar, dogs, and live music. If you're hungry be sure to try a food truck called Tommy Want Wingy (we recommend "The OG" on the menu)!
Jester King Brewery
As an authentic farmhouse brewery, Jester King has become known for their mixed culture and spontaneous fermentation programs. With brewers that are masters at incorporating the natural surroundings and agriculture into their brews, they uniquely tie their beers to “a time, place, and people.” Jester King’s taproom is a short drive out to Texas Hill Country, but it sits on a spot of land that will be the prettiest you ever see. If you’re hungry, there’s Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza on-site, which has built its own reputation of being some of the best pizza around.
Mozart's Coffee Roasters
Mozart's is an amazing coffee shop right on beautiful Lake Austin. If you need a delicious morning coffee, or maybe something sweet, with a calming lake view than Mozarts is your place.
Rainey Street
Renovated houses turned into bungalow bars - need we say more? Day or night, you’ll find relaxed bar-goers strolling from bar to food truck to bar again, often with their dogs in tow looking for a kicked back spot. Some of our favorites are Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden, Lucille's, and Clive Bar.
Salt Lick BBQ
What's a trip to Texas without some BBQ? A beautiful drive in the hill country leads you to one of the great BBQ spots Texas has to offer, which now has a winery as well. Want something a bit more local? Try your luck at Franklin's, Terry Black's, or Black's.
South Congress Avenue
South Congress draws plenty of foot traffic to its vibrant stretch of unique boutiques, creative lodging options and Austin-original eateries. Live music shows abound, including nightly sets at the legendary Continental Club. Also make sure to check out some amazing local artwork at Parts & Labour and grab some coffee at Jo's, which houses the famous "I love you so much" wall.
Texas Capitol Tour
Free 30-minute tours are a great way to learn about the history of the building, walk the historic halls and take pictures. Tours run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, departing every 30 to 45 minutes. And 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday; noon to 3:30 p.m on Sundays.
