Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Hayley Walsh and Mike Diminick
Newport's Must Stop Spots: Flo’s Clam Shack- fried oysters & clams. World famous. Del’s Lemonade- Stop at the sign of the lemon- literally (That’s their marketing slogan)! Super famous RI “slush” or water ice as Philly calls it. They’re usually beach side or tucked into shops in downtown Newport. They only have lemon & watermelon (we're team watermelon😊) true Rhode Islanders also don’t ask for a straw! Oysters- they’re everywhere! Nothing is better in our opinion than any oyster local to RI. Can’t go wrong anywhere you order them since they are all fresh. Mansions- If you're up for a tour, the Breakers is #1 to see. Rosecliff and Marble House are close 2nds. The Elms has a famous topiary garden. The mansions can also be seen from the Cliff Walk. Walk, shop, eat and drink at Bowen's Wharf. Live music, mega yachts, plenty of shops and watering holes. Bellevue Avenue is also another option.

Cliff Walk

Cliff Walk, Newport, RI 02840

not very challenging, there are a few rocks that you will need to walk over, but for the most part very flat. This trail is especially cool because it takes you around all of the Newport Mansions and then you end on Easton beach.

Castle Hill Inn

Castle Hill Avenue, Newport, RI 02840

Best place to get a drink- Castle Hill Inn Lawn- the cocktails and food are good, not the best on the island but you can’t beat the scenery with the white Adirondack chairs, and sailboats passing by. I’d recommend going here for a late lunch, or happy hour. The reservations do fill up quickly so I would recommend reaching out no later than 30 days in advance (I think this is how far the reservations open up, and they book up usually the same day they open up)

Midtown Oyster Bar

345 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 619-4100

Midtown Oyster Bar- this is my favorite for good food, and drink. Not super cheap, but somewhere above a pub, and step down from formal dining. Casual atmosphere, lots of seafood, and a nautical vibe

Newport Vineyards

909 East Main Road, Middletown, RI 02842
, (401) 848-5161

Great wine & food. Highly recommend this. Good for lunch, happy hour type food

O'Brien's Pub

501 Thames Street, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 849-6623

No frills Irish pub/beer garden. Great place to grab a drink/local Newport staple. It’s been around forever.

Second Beach

315 Sachuest Point Road, Middletown, RI 02842
, (401) 842-6500

This is our favorite beach in Newport. Lots of space, and great during low tide that you can walk out quite a bit. You can walk to the Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge which is right next door. It’s a great hike (~1mile) high up on the coastline. It’s a great way to start the day then take a dip in the ocean.

Giusto

4 Commercial Wharf, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 324-7400

Pasta Beach Newport

138 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 847-2222

22 Bowens Wharf

22 Bowens Wharf, Newport, RI 02840

International Tennis Hall of Fame

194 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 849-3990

Ocean Drive Historic District

Newport, RI 02840

Ocean Drive- Rent a scoot coupe or vespa, or Drive / Bike the 10 mile winding path to experience the scenic coast line. The houses are unreal (there is also a private beach club). We would recommend catching the sunset one night at Brenton Point State Park. Pack a picnic, and BYOB. You can also swim here- it’s just a bit more rough/rocky than the other beaches but definitely do-able. You’ll be sitting on the cliffs vs. a sandy beach here.

CRU Café

1 Casino Terrace, Newport, RI 02840
, (401) 314-0500

Great spot for a quick breakfast/light lunch takeout!

Flo's Clam Shack

4 Wave Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842
, (401) 847-8141
For all the days along the way
