Kate and Hayley have been best friends since they were two years old. They played soccer and basketball, took piano lessons, and had terrible haircuts together as children. They now enjoy visiting small-town museums and avoiding man-of-wars at beaches across Canada and the US. Kate makes Hayley laugh more than anyone else she knows.

Jake and JJ got to know each other as freshmen on the Gustavus football team and were roommates for most of college--and most of the decade afterward. That meant lots of nights watching The Office and bad action movies, fishing trips and motorcycle rides, learning how to cook like adults, and navigating (blindly at times) the "growing up" phase of life.

Sarah and Hayley met at St. F.X. and have been wonderful friends ever since! They lived together in Antigonish and Waterloo and shared travel adventures across Canada and the US... mostly Portland, Oregon, over and over again. Sarah is the kindest and most supportive friend and makes the best Shepherd's Pie!
Cody Wright

Cody didn't say a word for the first three weeks of college, then wouldn't stop talking and laughing for four straight years. JJ and Cody grew even closer after college, when they lived in nearby towns. Nowadays, Cody is raising a son with his wife, Emily, and he's the first one that all of the college roommates call when they have a question or are trying to get the gang back together.
Meredith MacDonald

Meredith and Hayley met at St. F. X. and since then Meredith has become one of Hayley's closest friends and favorite travel buddies! Hayley loves that Meredith is always up for a run--their personal favourites are rural Prince Edward Island races that are a kilometer too short. Meredith is brilliant and stylish and as Hayley's undergraduate students would say: "life goals."
Drew Dickison

Drew and JJ's friendship was forged as they competed together on baseball and swimming teams as teenagers. They spent hours shooting pool in Drew's basement, listening to music, and watching movies before they got their driver's licenses, an environment that spawned countless inside jokes and deep-cut movie references. Drew lives in Arizona now, but he'll pop up in Minnesota a couple times a year for a random visit or planned trip to the cabin.
Emelyne Marshall

Emelyne and Hayley's brother, Noah were best friends. Hayley now feels lucky that Emelyne feels like part of the Russell/Watt family, with all the rights and privileges (or concerns and challenges) that entails. Emelyne is the most skilled personal Hayley knows--not only is she a pharmacist, but she also has been a lobster fisherwoman and can solve any problem! Everyone should be so lucky to have someone like Emelyne in their life!
Dan Meinz

Dan and JJ played football together at Gustavus, engaged in some minor tomfoolery as juniors and seniors--nobody got hurt besides one possible concussion--and have bonded since over Hamm's Beer, fishing, and bocce ball at the yearly trip to the Loon's Roost (the Akin family cabin).
Nicole Proudfoot

Nicole and Hayley were first year St. F.X. roommates. After a year of making microwave s'mores, watching hours of Dawson's Creek on TBS, and surviving a cutthroat Psych 100 study group, they became great friends! Nicole is difficult to like because she is exceptional at EVERYTHING.
Jake Dahlke
Groomsman
Dahlke and JJ played football together in high school, competed in the Farmington Dew Days bed races as the "Sweet Dreams Speed Team," and tore up the South Metro Karaoke Circuit for a couple years in their early 20s. Dahlke's a jack-of-all-trades who can talk to anyone and fix anything and has a lucky streak where things somehow always happen to work out.
Brady Akin
Groomsman
JJ's younger brother Brady once threw a Matchbox car that hit JJ in the eye. Years later, JJ accidentally broke the braces off Brady's front teeth the same day the orthodontist put them on. Their interests were different growing up, but a deep competitive streak for both of them kept things interesting for mom and dad. Their interests are still very different, but now they bond over an irreverent sense of humor.
