The Philippines is a country of exceptional natural beauty and exceptionally kind/welcoming people. In many ways, it'll remind you of the US (e.g. English is an official language). That said, the Philippines is still a developing economy. Therefore, self-awareness and preparedness will ensure you're safe and having fun! - DO download the 'Grab' ride-share app before flying into the Philippines since Uber and Lyft do not operate in the Philippines. -DO download an E-sim before flying into the Philippines. We recommend Airalo.com -DO take the E-trikes (20 pesos each way) in Boracay as they are the most convenient way to get around. - DON'T drink tap water. Use your judgment when drinking iced beverages from restaurants / resorts. - DON'T carelessly display valuables in crowded, public areas. - DO secure valuables into your pocket or purse when walking around. As Boracay is generally very safe, we recommend exercising caution in Manila. - DO lock your passport in your hotel room's safe (and keep a photo of it on your phone). - DO buy a TSA-approved luggage lock (~$10 on Amazon) to lock checked bags when flying. - DO wear lots of sunscreen and bug spray.

Dress code is beach formal. We ask that you wear neutral or light pastel colors - think champagne, beige, taupe, light pink. No prints, no black. All guests should be in Boracay by Friday, March 22, 2024 Consider flight delays, missed flights, and or flight cancellations can happen, so if it is feasible for you to do so, please try not to cut it too close to the wedding day, as we really want you to be with us on our wedding day.
-Manila- There is a lot of taxi scams in Manila so we do not recommend this method of transportation. It's best to use "Grab" app (their form of Uber). From the airport to Makati city depending on the day and time, grab charges P150 - P350 ($3-$7). If you happen to be in a hurry and can't wait for grab, use metered taxis! -Boracay- We highly recommend you book through Southwest tours; otherwise, your hotel will provide private transportation at an extra cost. https://explorepilipinas.southwesttours.com.ph/caticlan.php
You can find a wide variety of food choices in the island. A large ala carte meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner will range from P300 ($6) and above depending on the restaurant. Standard meat and rice will cost you around P100 ($2). While buffet meals starts from P700 ($14) and above. Many of the hotels are inclusive of a breakfast buffet with your stay. -Drinking & Night life- There is a great deal of night life in Boracay. Discos, clubs, bars, pubs and restaurants are a plenty and the booze is cheap. The average price of a bottle of beer is P70 ($1.50) and luxury cocktails cost around P200 ($4).
Boracay is not only known for its pristine beaches. It is also popular for its exciting land and sea activities. You may choose to book your directly through your hotel or catch a local vendor. Group bookings are always the cheapest and it comes in packages. Rates range from P1500 ($30) and above. Haggle your way for a better deal!
We rely on you to use your own transportation getting to the ceremony, but we have arranged shuttles for everyone to return to their hotels at night.
The typical exchange rate is about 54 pesos to 1 US dollar. So divide the price in pesos by 54 to get the price in USD.
You can usually get a better exchange rate if you do it before heading to the Philippines. There are a number of banks on the island that will change Dollars or Euros. Most resorts have this service as well. There are ATM’s at the D’Mall that you can withdraw from. Ideally, paying in cash is the better way of settling bills when in restaurants or malls, as some small restaurants/resorts/shops may charge for credit card usage. Please confirm with your resort regarding their payment policy.
Cash is king on the island. While hotels and other major establishments accept credit card as a form of payment, you will likely need cash if you purchase anything from street vendors, purchase activities, commute via tricycle, tip bag handlers or tip for any other services.
Expect hot and humid tropical temperatures between 79°F and 93°F (26°C and 34°C) in March. Night time on the island should have a cool breeze, but you will not need a jacket. We highly recommend packing light, and breathable outfits for your trip.
While we would love to extend +1's to everyone, we ask that unless otherwise noted on your formal invite - to not bring a guest.
