This is our absolute favorite restaurant in New York. They don't take reservations - you have to call at 5pm when they open and request to be put on the list. Heidi's fits about 20 people in it comfortably, but has some of the best lobster mac & cheese, crab dip, gnocchi, and short rib we've ever had.
The Met is one of our favorite spots in Manhattan. It's an amazing way to spend a morning or an afternoon, getting lost in the different exhibits.
This place is very near and dear to our hearts. We actually wanted to get married here, but they wouldn't rent it out to us on a Saturday (rude). It's a wonderful place to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, listening to their live band while drinking a giant beer and eating a huge pretzel. They grill sausages and serve them with fries and four different kinds of mustard. We're both very German, and here it feels like home.
If it's nice out, the High Line is an excellent walk, and there are local vendors that sell crafts and snacks while you take in great views of the city from the west side.
This is our favorite ice cream spot on the Upper East Side. The most delicious.
A very classic New York spot for brunch.
One of our favorite places to get brunch or dinner, excellent Italian food and a great wine list.
This is a fantastic homestyle Italian restaurant. You'll walk in and they'll give you a menu, but the key is ordering from the list of 20 "specials" that the waiter will recite once you're settled. Dinner is usually served with a complimentary bruschetta to start, and complimentary grappa and cookies to finish.
Oysters and seafood, also a good place to go for happy hour for some cocktails and light snacks.
If you're downtown and want ice cream, try a salty pimp.
