The Beginning

Little did Becca know that the guy that pulled flowers out of his backpack to ask her to prom would be the one she'd marry; yet here we are and the original "Prom Tom" has gotten a major upgrade to fiance. With prom quickly behind them and college in the distance, one might assume that their was some discussion of "what would happen" when they headed to opposite corners of New Jersey for their freshman years, but that's not exactly what went down. In fact, neither of them really ever considered an alternative, putting the relationship on pause wasn't even a topic of conversation, so with a tearful goodbye and a few laughs, away they went. Over the next few years they would tear up the Turnpike and Parkway in a way that would only make New Jersey-ians proud. Summers were spent at Becca's family beach house in Manahawkin where Tom woke at the crack of dawn to spend his days running around a soccer field only to return home to refuel on root beer and ice cream sandwiches and backyard barbecues at the Aldredge pool. They would both go on to switch schools and reverse their commute (to really maximize what NJ had to offer) all while making friends a long the way. The NJ shuffle had become a comfortable and familiar way of life until Becca decided to shake things up with a hop skip and a jump over to Pennsylvania....

The Middle

So here's the part of the story where Becca goes rogue and takes off to central Pennsylvania to pump her own gas and that "what would happen" conversation would come full circle. Becca and Tom realized that the I-80 shuffle wasn't exactly what they'd hoped it would be, in fact, it kind of sucked. So in January 2018 Tom's car pulled up to Kress Hall where he would be issued his dorm room key and ID card - yup we were Res Lifers now, reaping the benefits of a great job for Becca in Residential Education - perks of which included a free apartment and meal plan! But heck, at least they were together, right? Now they would be lying if they told you that Tom fell in love with Lewisburg from the start, but slowly it started to grow on him. Together they learned how to make co-habitating work; getting to know one another in new ways - like in the way that Tom uses 10 drinking cups in a day and Becca leaves hundreds of dirty socks at the bottom of the bed. A pivotal moment came when Tom, asked to provide an emergency contact at work, chose to list Becca as his roommate. Yes, roommate. So needless to say they knew things were getting pretty serious. Soon they welcomed their cats, Karma and Rebel, into their home (and a fish named Luna who came and went pretty quickly...). They upgraded to a house downtown where they could walk to their favorite restaurants and bars, Brassiere Louis always on Tuesdays. Tom became quite well acquainted with the Amish family that owns the pretzel shop and Becca spends her mornings at the yoga studio around the corner. Before they knew it this little house and tiny town made room for a whole lot of love.

The End

So what comes next? Tom takes Becca to Cleveland in a blizzard; naturally. Since adjusting to life in Lewisburg, weekend trips to explore the nearest cities have become quite the luxury. It wasn't long after they ate a delicious pierogie pizza that Tom found himself on one knee in the Cleveland Aquarium, in front of the sharks, to ask Becca if she'd like to spend the rest of their lives together. She, of course, said yes before he could even get the words out. If you know Becca and Tom, this wasn't their first trip to the aquarium (or the zoo for that matter) just ask them about the Camden Aquarium after dark for Valentine's Day 2017. And since Becca's favorite place to be is elbow deep in a touch tank, this just made a whole lot of sense. They spent the rest of the afternoon calling friends and family and accepting a ride from the sweetest Uber driver in all of Cleveland, who was far too old to be out in a blizzard. And now, together, they get to plan a wedding. One that celebrates a high school prom, miles driven up and down New Jersey, roommates, lovers and friends. Tom and Becca are partners in every sense of the word. They're a team. They know each others strengths and weaknesses; they challenge one another to be better and they support each other on days when they aren't at their best. When they think about their wedding day they want it to be one that's laid back and fun for everyone, a celebration of everyone that cheered them on along the way. Lately, they've approached things with a "less is more" attitude; for that they have Lewisburg to thank. They feel fortunate that they want for very little. They are content, on some days overjoyed, with the abundance they already have. What more is there to want? Together they hope to create a home, and a family, that values experiences over things and quality over quantity. As for what comes next, who's to say. Becca and Tom will continue to write that story together as they countdown the days until they say I do!

For all the days along the way
