We highly recommend bringing your sunscreen and renting a shred-stick to enjoy the Southern California coastline. Doheny State Beach is easily accessible and has plenty of parking. Surf Sensi Cody indicates that if you’re looking to surf, this beach is the best for beginners to practice at but keep in mind that it’s a very crowded spot. Those that are looking for a more advanced wave have plenty of world-renowned spots to choose from including San Clemente pier, T-Street, San Onofre State Beach, and Trestles State Beach, all of which are within 5 miles of the wedding venue.
It will be wintertime meaning sunset is around 4-4:30 but there are plenty of beautiful golf courses nearby. We typically play 18 holes at San Juan Hills Golf Course but other locations in the area include Talega Golf Course in San Clemente or even San Clemente Municipal Golf Course (which is where the wedding will be held!). If budget is no option for your tee time, we highly recommend playing Monarch Golf Course in Dana Point.
Downtown San Juan Capistrano has multiple restaurants and bars to enjoy while you spend your day shopping in one of the many antique shops, visiting the Mission, or walking through the multiple gardens and smaller farms just across the train tracks from the downtown area (parking, shops, Mission, and gardens are all within a walking distance).
Downtown Dana Point is a bit more spread out for those that are looking to walk but has great food and bars. For those that enjoy playing billiards, throwing darts, and like (extreme) dive bars, we recommend wandering into the Blue Dolphin.
Downtown San Clemente has too many great food options to enjoy. If you’re looking for incredible Hispanic cuisine, ensure you get a reservation at South of Nic’s!
