Kunal and Kristen met in real life in Philadelphia! Their paths may have crossed occasionally during their college years between 2010 and 2013 at Temple University in Philadelphia, but they did not really connect until years later through their mutual friends Gill and Dave. They ran into one another a few times after college, but the timing wasn't right... yet! Fast forward to a surprise to Kristen (but completely set-up) meeting at the end of 2017 (thanks, Gill!) and the rest is history.

Somehow Kunal asked Kristen to go hiking without too much suspicion. If you know Kristen and Kunal well, you are aware that Kristen is an avid hiker while Kunal will go... but it's not his #1 weekend activity. During the morning prior to their hike at Oyster Dome, Kristen shared that she can't believe how well she slept the night before. Kunal quietly thought about how he had not really slept at all from his nerves. When they arrived at the top, Kristen suggested they quickly eat their snacks and start their descent, while Kunal insisted they stay longer. Kunal also insisted that someone take their picture... multiple times... without asking anyone to take their picture. After moving 10 feet away from their original resting spot (to avoid the proposal right next to someone eating a PB&J), Kunal got down on one knee and asked the question that was answered with an easy yes!
