Paul and Casey met winter of their Junior year at Gonzaga at a birthday party for Paul's friend Joey, hosted by Casey's friend (and maid of honor) Pearl. Initially, Paul failed to impress, but did convince Casey to try indoor rock climbing. Rock climbing led Casey and Paul to a spring-semester friendship. Their relationship didn't blossom until that summer when they both stayed in Spokane for internships. On July 25th, 2019, they decided to make their relationship official. After a fantastic summer, Casey left to study abroad in Panama for the fall semester. This was both a challenging time for the start of their relationship, but also an important time of individual growth. When Casey returned, she flew to Paul's hometown of Bend, Oregon, to meet Paul and his family for the first time. Their relationship picked up like they hadn't been away from each other. As spring 2020 rolled around, and COVID shut the world down, Paul and Casey drew closer, staying in Spokane to finish senior year with friends. Facing the anxiety of not knowing where their first post-college jobs would take them, fate landed them both with jobs in Bellingham - crazy, they were on to a new chapter together.
Paul began working at Janicki Industries and moved into an apartment with friend Trevor, while Casey began working at Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group and moved in with her grandparents. They began building a new life in Bellingham, loving the vibrant community and making new friends. In the Summer of 2021, Casey landed a new job with an environmental consulting company, Ross Strategic, and moved in with Paul and their friend (groomsman) Trevor for a short time to finish out their lease. Trevor moved back to Spokane and Paul and Casey moved into their first apartment together. Their time was full of cooking, hiking and camping, board games and movie nights, running, exploring, a big trip to Europe, and making countless precious memories with each other, family, and friends.
Casey and Paul moved into Casey's grandparents' house to care for the house and adopted their newest family member - Molly the bulldog. While stubborn and stinky, Molly brought the two closer together. With a growing family and the house about to be sold, the three needed a new place of their own.
In February of 2024, Paul and Casey went on a trip to Mexico. They were traveling to Cabo for what Casey thought was a birthday celebration for three friends (which in fact it was). They added on some time for scuba diving and check off Casey's bucket-list item of snorkeling with whale sharks. On the evening of an already a perfect day, Paul took Casey on a beautiful walk on the beach at sunset. He dropped on a knee in the sand and popped the question. Casey said "Yes" of course!
Paul and Casey worked with their friend Ethan (groomsman) to find a house. They settled on 4041 Gloria Lane - a cute house, five doors down from their close friends Taylor and Nathan (also in the bridal party!). Over the summer, they balanced moving into the new home and training for a half marathon - a proud moment they completed together!
The rest is yet to be written. We can't wait for you to join in celebrating the beginning of our next chapter!
