Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

Nope. We recommend taking a shuttle our coordinator can arrange for you that will take you straight from the airport to the entrance of Jakes Hotel. If you want to explore from Treasure Beach you can arrange a taxi, rental car or scooter from Treasure Beach area (rather than Montego Bay).

Question

Money in Jamaica

Answer

The local currency is Jamaican Dollars, however the US dollar is widely accepted and may be all you need. If you do want any local currency, we recommend taking money out of an ATM rather than using the ForEx service at the airport. Also, Jakes accepts credit cards and you can charge all your expenses to your room and settle at checkout.

Question

Tipping at Jakes

Answer

If a Jake's Hotel waitress, bartender, housekeeping or anyone else who works for Jake's really helps you out and does a great job I HIGHLY recommend handing them a cash tip, looking them in the eye and sincerely thanking them. This goes a far longer way than the amount of cash you are handing over.
