Best Man
This is all a bit surreal, being asked to write a summary about yourself for your brother’s wedding website. Mostly because there have been few instances of us not doing something together. Lines have to be drawn somewhere, I guess. But hey, now I have a sister and that’s pretty great. Also useful...Lauren can also crush Mitch at board games.
Maid of Honor
Although Lauren and I had known each other for years through Tau Beta Sigma and the Auburn Marching Band, it was our very last semester of college that really solidified our friendship. Between parties, gamedays, and late nights at RBD or Sky, we were inseparable. Graduation rolled around, and wild nights in downtown Auburn turned into weekends of exploring Atlanta breweries, Bachelor marathons, game nights, and trivia. We grew up together in a very literal sense of the phrase, and through the highs and lows created a beautiful, life-long bond. Lauren and Mitch (hi Dad!), I am forever grateful for your friendship, and I am so honored and excited to bear witness to the most important day of your lives! MLITB and (of course) Barleywine Is Life.

I am so excited to be able to stand next to Mitch and Lauren on their special day! I first met Mitch while I was rushing Kappa Kappa Psi. Little did I know, he was going to be my big brother. We haven’t looked back since. Through music classes and Auburn sporting events, finding new breweries with him and Lauren, we’ve had so many great memories together. I can’t wait to make many more in the years to come! (Mitch if you want to add anything else to this and make it more sentimental, please do.)

As fate would have it, Lauren was in one of my first classes at Auburn- biology. That fall, I had attended recruitment events for Tau Beta Sigma, so I was excited to see a familiar face in a large class. I sat with her on the first days of the semester. We bonded over our love of band (and complaining about bio haha). Soon, I decided to join TBS and she chose to be my Big! This began years of memories as friends and Sisters. We served AU bands together, travelled across the Southeast together to TBS events, went to innumerable Auburn sporting events (WDE!), and lived “our best lives” at 1716 and Sky our last semester at Auburn. We’ve discovered new beers and that soft tortillas are a necessity for TMac queso. I’m so excited to make new memories as she gets #funkinmarried! Love you both!

Dear friends are hard to come by, but the best of friends are ones that you meet unexpectedly. Although it only took five minutes for Mitch and me to become friends, little did I know that I was making a lifelong friendship. We met at an accepted student luncheon at our law school, and it wasn’t long before I met Lauren too (and knew Mitch had outkicked his coverage). Grades, classes, semesters, and years of law school have flown by, but I’m lucky to count both Mitch and Lauren as constant friends throughout all of it. So it’s with the utmost pride and love that I look forward to standing by both of them as they get married, and it’s with the biggest Athens, GA grin on my face that I ask them to read the first letter of each of these sentences.

I met Mitch and Lauren right after my first year in the AUMB. We were in the line for instrument and uniform returns and I spoke with several people about Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. They both gave me great advice and while Mitch had the cool last name, Lauren definitely became my mentor and a greatest grand big. I was grateful when I became a part of Lauren’s TBS family and how much support and guidance she gave me! And later on, Mitch’s support and guidance post undergrad (when I was debating law school or grad school and how to prep) would help me get back to Auburn and get a M.A. in Communications (War Eagle!). These two have been pivotal to my growth, my adulthood, and my understanding of love and friends. I’m blessed to know them and honored to join them in their special day!

Mitch and I met on the first day of law school orientation. Without boring you with all the details, we hit it off. Since then we have recovered lost Picassos, intercepted a Russian Covfefe, taught Beyonce how to dance, and almost stole the Constitution. Because we got tired of it all, Mitch and I decided that when we get done with school (insert: when we have a little more time) we are going to start a competitive barbecue team- Habeas Porkus, we’ll save your butt. We decided that we would have sweet nicknames. We are still working on Mitch’s. Mitch and Lauren, it has been so great getting to know you both these last three years. Y’all are truly some of my very best friends. As such, I, John Hooven – aka Big Spoon, will always have your backs. Much love on your special day!

One of the first interactions I had as an Auburn student was when Lauren’s Maid of Honor, Katy, helped me and my Dad move me into my freshman dorm as part of Tau Beta Sigma’s band service. When I went to rushes and decided to become a sister, Lauren took awkward freshman me under her wing and we’ve been close friends since then! She encouraged me to go out for leadership positions and supported me unwaveringly, especially when I took on roles that she held previously. Lauren has continued to be my rock long after we have graduated college and have become adults with corporate worlds to take on and weddings to plan! I can’t imagine a more wonderful and deserving friend to celebrate - here’s to the beautiful bride and the luckiest groom!

I first met Mitch and Lauren several years ago through Katy, Lauren’s Maid of Honor. I could never have predicted at the time how many countless, wonderful hours I would spend with them exploring new breweries, trying new foods, learning new board games, and making new memories. After so many new experiences with them, I’m so excited to watch them start this new chapter of their life together. Cheers!

Lauren was one of the first people I ever met when I began college at Auburn, and little did I know that my marching band section leader would become one of my best and fastest friends. Lauren has always been a role model to me with her ambition, sass, and natural leadership. When I joined Kappa Kappa Psi, I not only gained her as a sister, but I gained Mitch as a brother. Moving to Atlanta has allowed me to become closer to both of them and see how caring they truly are. I always look forward to our family board game and dinner nights on Sundays, and expect nothing less than to lose every Disney game, because man, do they know their stuff. It is an honor and privilege to stand next to both Lauren and Mitch on their wedding day, and I can’t wait to see where the future will take them.
