The River Arts District is a great spot to walk around, look at local art, find some delicious treats, and drink a few beers. We highly recommend grabbing a beer at Hi-Wire RAD, The River Arts District Brewing Company, or the Wedge. There are also delicious tequila/mezcal cocktails at Anoche. You can find a great burger at Baby Bull, fresh baked bread and wine at Mother, and barbecue at 12 Bones Smokehouse (only open weekdays from 11:30-4:30pm). There is art to be found throughout this neighborhood but if you want to stick to one zone we recommend walking through Marquee or Riverview Station.
West Asheville is the part of town we call home. You can find cute local shops such as Whist for trinkets/gifts and Flora for plants. To grab a drink we recommend checking out Leo's House of Thirst for wine and Cellarest for a beer. There are so many tasty food options including Reginas for breakfast, Gypsy Queen for lunch, and Nine Mile for dinner.
There are several shops, galleries, restaurants, and breweries to explore downtown. Park as close as you can to Pack Square and meander around town. It's tough to go wrong! If you're looking for a brewery tour, South Slope is a quick walk south and includes popular breweries such as Burial, Wicked Weed, Green Man, and more. Some delicious food recommendations include The Rhu, Mamacitas, Salsas, and Dilbar.
Biltmore Village is the area of town right outside of the Biltmore House. The most obvious attraction here is seeing the Biltmore House and Estate, an 8,000 acre property. You can take a guided tour of the house itself which also allows you access to the property which is full of hiking/biking trails, restaurants, and a hotel if you are so inclined. Outside of the Biltmore property there are plenty of shops to explore. There are also some great breweries in this area including Cursus Keme and Burial Beer Co. Forestry Camp.
Dupont is a great place for a hike or bike ride. There are a ton of options in this area for hiking. It does get extremely popular in the summer, so don't expect to have the place to yourself. Popular waterfalls to explore include Triple Falls, High Falls, and Hooker Falls.
For the more experienced mountain bikers and hikers we recommend exploring Pisgah National Forest. There are also a ton of great hikes in this area such as John's Rock, Pink Beds, Looking Glass Rock, and more. If you're looking for more specific suggestions, don't hesitate to reach out!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is worth a drive to explore the views around Asheville, there are also several hikes of varying difficulty right off the road. Not to mention, we got engaged on one of the trails off of the Parkway! Popular and beautiful hikes include Skinny Dip Falls, Graveyard Fields, Black Balsam, Mount Pisgah, and Sam's Knob.
Just across the South Carolina border, Jones Gap is about a 25 minute drive from camp. A top choice for those chasing waterfalls, the more popular hikes in the park include Rainbow Falls and Jones Gap Falls.
