Best Western Grand Hotel Guinigi

For anyone looking for a convenient place to stay, the Best Western Grand Hotel Guinigi in Lucca is a great option—about 20 minutes from the villa, where all our wedding events (hangouts, dinners, the rehearsal dinner, and the ceremony) will take place. The hotel can help arrange taxis or local transportation to and from the villa as needed. My dad has also kindly offered to assist with rides using our family’s rental cars, so we’ll do our best to make sure everyone can get where they need to go. We’re not holding a room block just yet, but if you’re interested in staying here, please let us know! If enough guests would like to book, we’re happy to set one up. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in beautiful Tuscany!

Tenuta San Pietro Hotel & Resort

For guests who’d like to stay right by the villa, this lovely hotel/bed and breakfast is located just across the street—you couldn’t be closer to all the action! It’s an ideal choice if you want easy access to the hangouts, dinners, rehearsal dinner, and ceremony. Please note that this option is likely a bit more expensive than hotels in central Lucca, but the convenience and setting can’t be beat. We’re not arranging a room block here at the moment, but if there’s enough interest, we’d be happy to look into setting one up.

Passports

If you’re joining us in Italy (we can’t wait!), please take a moment to check your passport well in advance of the trip. Make sure your passport is not expired and will remain valid for at least 6 months after your travel dates—this is required for entry into Italy and most European countries. If you need to renew or apply for a passport, we recommend doing so as early as possible to avoid any last-minute stress or delays. We’d hate for anyone to run into travel hiccups, so consider this your friendly reminder to double-check now and enjoy a smooth trip to Italy later!

We can gather quotes and help arrange services to make your travel as smooth as possible. Please note that guests will be responsible for the cost of their transportation, and pricing will vary depending on locations and timing. Pisa International Airport (PSA)

Carson and Harper will be flying into Pisa International Airport (PSA), which is the closest major airport to Villa Valgiano. From the airport, the easiest option is to take a taxi directly to the town of Lucca, which takes about 45-60 minutes. A more budget-friendly option would be to get to the nearby train station, Pisa Centrale, then a regional train to Lucca (about 30-40 minutes), followed by a 15-20 minute taxi ride from Lucca to your accommodations. Traveling through London Heathrow (UK ETA Requirement)

If you are traveling to Italy and connecting through London Heathrow Airport, please be aware of the United Kingdom’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) requirement for U.S. travelers. If your flight connection stays within the international transit area of Heathrow (following the “Flight Connections” signs and not passing through UK passport control), you do not need a UK ETA. However, you will need a UK ETA if your connection requires you to enter the UK, such as collecting and rechecking luggage, changing terminals through passport control, leaving the airport during a layover, or staying overnight before your next flight. A UK ETA costs about £16, is completed online before travel, and is typically approved quickly. If you are unsure whether your itinerary requires one, it may be helpful to apply in advance just in case. Even if not required, some travelers still apply for an ETA as a backup in case of missed connections or unexpected overnight stays.
