We first met at Iowa State University while both studying aerospace engineering, where we spent a few years orbiting each other in some of the same classes without much more than the occasional glances and light conversation. Our real introduction did not happen until a night out at a bar with some mutual friends, where we finally made contact outside of lecture slides and equations. We took our time getting things off the ground - it was months later that we finally went on a date. By then, Harlin had graduated and moved back to Pella, Iowa, to start working, though he quickly began returning to Ames to visit Emily. Those trips became more and more frequent, and eventually turned into something more official. After Emily graduated in December 2020, she moved to Wichita, Kansas for her engineering job. Harlin was hot on her heels, following soon after to keep our trajectories aligned. We've been building our life there ever since, and in July 2025, Harlin proposed in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on a family trip!
