Whatever, you like. Seriously. We'll be dressed pretty casually ourselves (footwear will be Birkenstocks and Chacos.) Theodore will be in a bowtie and we are both entirely okay if he is the best dressed. Wear outdoor shoes, it's in the woods, meaning uneven surfaces and soft dirt.
Typically you can expect the temperatures at the venue to be 5-10 degrees cooler than that in town. Also, Central Oregon cools off very quickly in the evening. You can plan on a 25-30 degree drop in temperature so you usually need a jacket in the evenings year round. Other than that just watch the weather. We sure will be!
Yup, there very well could be mosquitos out at this time of year. We'll do our best to wish them away!
Of course! This is a whole family affair! Please be sure to let us know when you RSVP how many from your clan will be attending.
The main course will be homemade tamales (wish us luck!) and there will be meat, vegetarian, and vegan options but please let us know in advance if you have other dietary restrictions. If for some reason, tamales don't tickle your fancy, go ahead and bring your own food--we won't be offended. There will be snacks before the ceremony, appetizers after, and some late night snacks after dinner. If you typically abstain from eating meat for environmental or certain ethical reasons keep in mind that all meat provided has been locally sourced, was free-range, and ethically treated.
The question you've all been dying to ask--yes, there will be an open bar. We'll have two kegs of local beer and red and white wine. As much as we'd love to cater to all of your favorite drinks, we're trying to keep things simple. If beer and wine don't work for you, you're more than welcome to bring a libation of your choosing.
A shuttle will be available to and from the venue but space is limited, so please RSVP in advance if this is your preferred option. The shuttle will leave from Motel 6 at 3:00 and will depart back to Bend at 10:00. Bend also has Lyft, Uber, and taxi services. If you're driving yourself, it's a straight shot out of town and easy to find! Please, plan your ride ahead of time. There is also camping available at the venue so we encourage you to come up early, set up camp, and join us in camping out and telling late night stories around the campfire.
We know Bend's lodging can be competitive this time of year. We encourage you to check out Airbnbs and VRBOs for better group rates. There also is the option to camp at the venue, that's what we will be doing :)!
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at the venue. Honestly, there is nothing we would love more than to have a bunch of happy muts crashing the wedding, but rules are rules. (These rules, of course, will not apply for our firstborn son, Atticus but he'll be sent on his way shortly after the ceremony).
