Paige and Austin tell these stories very differently, but Paige is the one typing this so you'll hear her version. In August of 2019, Paige decided to get a job at a local restaurant to save money to travel when she moved to London the following January. With the exception of August 26, 2019, it was the worst job she's ever had. It was a very slow day working at the bar when the most handsome man she'd ever seen came and sat down. It was Austin, who decided to walk to celebrate the beginning of his second year in Baylor's Entrepreneurship Ph.D. program with a burger and a beer. Paige was fascinated hearing about his life studying wine in France and trekking through the North Carolina mountains. Austin was fascinated by Paige's ability to make a pun out of everything. Paige's manager came over and yelled at Paige for spending "too much time with one customer." Paige tried to slyly get Austin's number, hoping he would write it on the receipt, or ask for his receipt back so she could write down hers. When he didn't, she worried she'd never see him again. Then he mentioned that he had regretted walking from campus to Twisted Root. Austin Richard Brown made the decision to walk over a mile, across the highway, through construction, in August, in Texas, at high noon to get a burger. Paige offered to drive him home, which he agreed to. A week later, they went on their first date at Dichotomy Coffee and Spirits and talked for nearly 4 hours when the place closed for the night. The rest, as they say, is history.
