For the brave souls looking for a challenge, complete the Manitou Incline, approximately 20 minutes from Colorado Springs. This "hike" is a 2,744 step stairway straight up the side of Pikes Peak. With 2,000 feet in elevation gain, this accomplishment will earn you bragging rights for the rest of time. The incline is free to do, but reservations are required at the website below.
This is one of our favorite local areas to hike. For an easy, paved trail with some stairs, try Helen Hunt Falls. For something a little longer, try Seven Bridges or St. Mary's Falls. Wherever you end up in this park, you'll have great scenery! Don't forget to download the AllTrails app to help you plan.
If you have a little extra time, hike The Crags Trail, a 4.5-mile loop in Divide, CO. Though a little bit of a drive (approximately 2 hours) from Colorado Springs, this is one of our absolute favorites in all of Colorado. You'll get beautiful aspen trees, open meadows, babbling brooks, and the most breathtaking view at the top.
Pikes Peak is considered "America's Mountain" and is Colorado Springs' local 14er (peak above 14,000 feet). Head up to the top for incredible views and delicious donuts at the base camp. You can drive up if you have a vehicle, or buy tickets for the Cog Railway, located in Manitou Springs.
Needing some pre- or post- wedding relaxation? Take the 1h 30min drive to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, one of the natural river hot springs in Colorado. Enjoy soaking in the naturally warm river or upgrade to the spa experience, which also has a sauna and cold plunge pool. Day passes are $45 for adults and $35 for kids.
It's Labor Day Weekend, so the hot air balloon festival will be in town! Plan an early morning on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday to see the hot air balloons take off. You can also visit the festival in the evening to catch the balloon glow event.
Delicious spot for breakfast and lunch!
Our favorite date night spot!
A laid back place for beers and bites to eat up north, which is closer to the venue and hotels.
Great for bigger groups, as it has large tables, a big variety in food, and a nice patio.
