Transportation from Edinburgh

By Car: Starting in Edinburgh: Head south on the M8 motorway towards Glasgow. Merge onto the M74: After about 20 miles, take the exit onto the M74 southbound toward Carlisle. Continue on the M74: Stay on the M74 for about 40 miles, passing through towns like Lanark and Lesmahagow. Exit the M74: At junction 15, take the A701 exit to Dumfries/Beattock/Moffat/Selkirk/A708 At the Beattock Interchange Roundabout: Take the 3rd exit onto A701 At the next Roundabout: Take the 3rd exit again onto B7076 towards signs for Auchen Castle Take the B7076: After about one mile, turn left at signs for Auchen Castle At the Gatehouse Junction: Turn right into Auchen Castle By Train: Board the Train: From Waverly Train Station, board the Transpennine Express towards Manchester Airport (leaving approximately every 2 hours) Get off at the Second Stop: After Haymarket, get off in Lockerbie Take a Cab: From Lockerbie, take a 15min cab ride to Auchen Castle ​ By Bus: From Edinburgh: Take the 101A bus for Dumfries from Princes Street stop PR (Scott Monument) Ride 51 Stops: Approximately 2 hours Exit Bus: At Moffat, Stance 2 High Street Take a Cab: From Moffat, take a 10min cab ride to Auchen Castle
