They say that love is all about timing, and for us, it’s a journey that started long before we knew where it would lead. We first met back in middle school—yes, about 16 years ago! With mutual friends and a shared circle, we quickly became part of each other’s lives. Sarah was best friends with Diego’s cousin Iliana (who’s now one of our bridesmaids), and we even had a short-lived high school romance during our freshman year—until Diego (in classic teenage fashion) broke it off. After Sarah switched schools, we stayed in touch over the years, crossing paths again and again as life unfolded. It felt like the universe was nudging us together, waiting for the perfect moment. About two and a half years ago, that moment arrived. Diego was working as an account manager for the flooring company Sarah’s property used, and suddenly we were back in each other’s lives on a regular basis. At first, we were both in other relationships, but as fate would have it, a few months later we both found ourselves single. This time, Sarah decided to take a leap of faith and sent Diego a message. One late-night conversation led to a first date, and that first date turned into a lifetime of adventures together. We often joke that our first date felt more like a fun interview, talking about our five-year plans and realizing we were on the same page. And as a sweet sign from the universe, the rooftop bar we visited played Diego’s parents’ wedding song that night. We like to think it was a little wink from fate, and now here we are, ready to celebrate our own love story with all of you.
