Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Cassidy Boughton and Shawn Howard
Boise is our home and our favorite place, and we LOVE when our loved ones get to experience it for the first time! Here are some of our favorite activities/sights:
Boise River Greenbelt

Boise River Greenbelt

Boise River Greenbelt, Boise, ID

Stretching over 25 miles along the scenic Boise River, the Greenbelt is a favorite spot for walking, running, biking, or just soaking in the natural beauty of the city. It’s the perfect way to explore Boise’s parks, downtown, and river views—all in one peaceful, tree-lined path.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park

1413-1620 North 13th Street, Boise, ID 83702

Hyde Park is one of Boise’s cutest and coziest neighborhoods—perfect for a leisurely stroll. You’ll find charming coffee shops, laid-back wine bars, unique boutiques, and plenty of spots to grab a bite or sip a drink. It’s a great way to soak up local vibes and enjoy some easygoing fun just north of downtown.

Idaho Botanical Garden

Idaho Botanical Garden

2355 N Old Penitentiary Road, Boise, ID 83712

Nestled in the Boise foothills just minutes from downtown, the Idaho Botanical Garden is a 15-acre living museum filled with themed gardens—from romantic roses and fragrant herbs to tranquil koi ponds and native wildflower collections. It’s the perfect peaceful retreat for a scenic stroll or a quiet moment of reflection, with ever-changing blooms and natural beauty that’s uniquely Idaho.

Boise State University

Boise State University

1910 West University Drive, Boise, ID 83725

Take a leisurely walk through our alma mater, Boise State University! We LOVE to take nice long walks through the tree-lined campus that sits along the river, admiring the beautiful brick buildings that lead us all the way to the infamous BSU Blue Turf - a must-see when here in Boise!

Idaho Steelheads

Idaho Steelheads

233 South Capitol Boulevard, Boise, ID 83702

We highly recommend catching an Idaho Steelheads hockey game! They’re Boise’s pro minor league team, and the games are a total blast—fast-paced action, loyal fans, cold beer, and maybe even a good ol’ hockey fight (if you’re lucky). The arena’s right in the heart of downtown, so it’s the perfect pre-or-post dinner activity if you're in the mood for some good vibes and sports energy.

Freak Alley Gallery

Freak Alley Gallery

210 North 9th Street, Boise, ID 83702

This downtown Boise hidden gem is the region’s largest open-air mural gallery—a colorful, community-driven canvas bursting with vibrant street art. Fresh murals by local artists appear regularly, making every visit unique and worthy of a photo stop. Perfect for a stroll between coffee, brunch, or exploring downtown.

Old Idaho Penitentiary Site

Old Idaho Penitentiary Site

2445 Old Penitentiary Road, Boise, ID 83712

Visit the Old Idaho State Penitentiary for a fun, spooky little switch-up! This fascinating historic site explores over a century of frontier justice, inmate-built sandstone architecture, original cellblocks, and more! The museum offers both guided and self-guided tours full of haunting stories and tangible artifacts—a memorable, one-of-a-kind experience for guests seeking something historic, eerie, and deeply local.

Thick as Thieves

Thick as Thieves

620 West Idaho Street, Boise, ID 83702

If you're into hidden doors and strong cocktails, don't miss Thick as Thieves—a secretive little speakeasy tucked behind an unmarked entry that feels straight out of a noir film. And that's just the beginning—Boise's bar scene is full of gems, from upscale lounges like The Gatsby to cozy cocktail spots like Press & Pony, and plenty more in between. Whether you're craving craft cocktails, local brews, or just a cool place to hang out, Boise delivers. Cheers!

Bogus Basin

Bogus Basin

Just a 45 minute drive from downtown Boise, Bogus Basin is a ski resort with skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. (They even have night skiing at discounted rates!) If you love your winter activities and want to enjoy what the winter has to offer here in Idaho, we recommend heading up the mountain!
