Question

Will there be dancing?

Answer

YES!

Question

Will you be having a religious wedding?

Answer

We will be opting for a mostly non-religious wedding, with a few heartfelt nods toward Jewish traditions.

Question

What traditional elements will you include in your ceremony and why?

Answer

We will be demonstrating "the breaking of the glass," as well as the use of a chuppah. The chuppah represents our new home, open to love, support, and community. Breaking the glass reminds us that even in joyful moments, we honor life’s fragility, and is also a symbolism for the permanence of marriage. It’s also your cue to yell Mazel Tov! and celebrate!

Question

What traditional elements will you not include in your ceremony and why?

Answer

Tiara has opted not to be given away by her dad, as she does not like the connotations of property deliverance it comes with. Instead, she will be walked down the aisle with both of her parents in a show of support for her new marriage. The couple will also be going off book and writing their own marital vows to create a more personal and intimate experience for the two.
