Sometimes, love literally knocks right on your front door. In Emily’s case, it didn’t knock, but it did walk right through (and duck under the frame of) her front door when Forrest arrived at a small soirée at her bachelorette pad as a guest of groomsman and mutual friend Steve Brown. We had no clue that typical summer night in Baltimore would forever change our lives! We chatted and there was definitely an initial attraction, but nothing immediately came of it. Instead, it took six more months and some more life experiences for each of us to really notice the other and give love a try after reconnecting on Christmas. The fall was quick and effortless.
On a cold December morning in a tiny Getaway Cabin near Shenandoah, snuggled up in (sort of) matching PJs, Forrest popped the question that Emily had been asking him about for some time. Knowing that Emily would want to take photos in front of the big pictureque window stocked in the Getaway cabin, Forrest suggested they take a video of the two pillow fighting, and they could pull stills from the video. Once the camera was rolling, it was clear Emily was valiantly winning the pillow fight until Forrest tried to disarm her. Questioning his motives, Emily resisted at first, until Forrest made his intentions (including those with the rest of his life) clear when he asked her to marry him. And OF COURSE she said yes! Fun Fact: Forrest was originally planning to propose on Christmas Day, with the diamond set in a specially ordered setting to arrive shortly before Christmas, but he decided he just couldn’t wait to propose (aw). He moved up the proposal on short notice, got a placeholder ring setting in stock at the jeweler, and still managed to nail it all. At the wedding, Emily’s diamond will be switched from the proposal setting and set in the setting that Forrest originally selected. We will have the proposal setting made into a heart shaped necklace, so Emily can forever treasure the beautiful memory created by Forrest.
