Josh and Jacquelyn began dating in 2016 on a chilly October night under the stars. They did not know each other that well, but seemed to share a special connection from the outset. Jacquelyn claims to have known all along that the two of them would once become husband and wife, while Josh asserts that there is no way she knew this. Nevertheless, October 9th was the beginning of their journey of living Happily Ever Ehko. Since that day, they have shared many smiles, laughs, and dates full of memories. The Lord has guided their relationship through happy and sad times but has brought them closer to Him and each other through it all. Putting Him first and glorifying Him is their goal as they progress in their relationship towards marriage.
On a foggy Saturday in January, Josh took Jacquelyn on a hike through the Cowan’s Gap mountains- something he knew she would love. They bundled up to face the cold and rainy forecast and headed up to an overlook that Josh claimed to have never been to. Jacquelyn was enjoying herself and taking time to experience the surroundings, but Josh was on a mission to get to the top. Periodically, Josh would whistle, but Jacquelyn thought nothing of it. When they got to the top, they could barely see 15 feet in front of them because of the fog cloud they were in, but Jacquelyn thought it was super cool. While they were up there, Jacquelyn noticed that there was something in the dirt. She thought it was a knife, but upon closer inspection, she realized it was a phone! She wanted to go dig it out to see if they could find out who it belonged to, but Josh made her wait. Instead, Josh wanted to take a picture of Jacquelyn looking out away from him. When he said he had snapped the photo, Jacquelyn turned around to find him down on one knee with a box in his hands. A huge smile broke across her face when Josh began telling her how much he loves her and that he wants to be with her forever. He asked her to marry him and Jacquelyn uttered an unmistakable “YES!”. Then, shouts of celebration rang out across the mountainside... When she looked closely, she saw none other than Josh’s 3 siblings, Steph, Nick, and Timmy in full camo gear running down out of the trees. Jacquelyn was shocked and so happy that they were there! It turned out that the whistling Josh had been doing was a signal and the phone buried in the dirt was Nick’s Ipod set-up to record the whole engagement. They got pictures together and then Josh’s siblings made the trek down while Josh and Jacquelyn were left. Josh pulled a long letter out of his pocket and read it to his new fiancé with tears in his eyes. They shared smiles, tears, and laughs as they both realized that their dreams were finally becoming reality.
