Kayla and Duffy met several times before they finally started dating. Thanks to a kickball team, their paths finally crossed on a boat co-owned by their mutual friends, Jake and Jason. It took a few years before they started talking (Duffy still swears Kayla hated him the first time they met), but the two really hit it off over scary movies - specifically the Halloween movies. Halloween proved to be a central theme to the start of their story, since it was at Duffy's yearly Halloween party that he told Kayla he really enjoyed dating her and thought the two should make their relationship official. It was also at this party that a very confused Kayla replied with: "I have a boyfriend..." A week later, they were both single and then took some time to consider what dating would be like before finally making it official after their friend's Zach and Anastasia's Friends-giving party. Their relationship moved forward smoothly from there - even though their first date did include a surprise meeting of Duffy's parents. Since then, Kayla and Duffy have traveled the world, navigated the highs and lows of life, played countless hours of board games, and are still watching scary movies together.
