The Wedding Website of Karalynn Newhart and Luis Cueva III
Telluride sits at 8,750 feet in the heart of the San Juan Mountains — our tiny, magical, slightly dramatic hometown that we’ve loved for nearly a decade. The easiest way to get here is flying straight into Telluride Airport (TEX) on Denver Air Connection, with quick flights from Denver (35 min) and Phoenix (50 min). It’s the highest commercial airport in the U.S., so yes, the views are outrageous and yes, you’ll feel like you’re landing on top of the world. Once you touch down, you’re only 12 minutes from town with shuttles ready to scoop you up. For more flight options (and often better prices), Montrose Airport (MTJ) is just 1 hour 15 minutes away, with plenty of routes and easy shuttle service into Telluride. Depending on timing, we may even be able to coordinate a Montrose pickup — consider it your first taste of mountain‑town hospitality. Below are a few hotels we will have discounted rates at if you call and book with "The Cueva Wedding" We can't wait to see you!

Mountain Lodge Telluride

457 Mountain Village Boulevard, Telluride, CO 81435
 (970) 369-5000

Mountain Lodge Telluride holds a special place in our story — it’s where we first met, right in the dining room of the restaurant, introduced for the very first time. The lodge is located in Mountain Village, just a scenic 2‑mile and 12-minute gondola ride from the town of Telluride. This hotel feels like a true mountain escape, with cozy cabin‑style rooms and stunning views of some of Colorado’s highest peaks. It also has a wonderful restaurant and a staff full of friends who feel like family — the kind of people who make you feel instantly at home. Staying here adds just a little extra adventure: a 12‑minute gondola ride into town, floating above the trees with 360° mountain views. Mountain Village itself has easy access to amenities, including a grocery store, restaurants, and bars all within a short walk. It’s a beautiful, peaceful option — and a meaningful one for us.

Airbnb & VRBO

If you’re traveling with a group — or just want to save on costs — we highly recommend booking a shared condo or house. Telluride and Mountain Village both have fantastic Airbnbs and vacation rentals, and staying together makes the weekend even more fun (built‑in hangouts, coffee buddies, late‑night giggles… all the good stuff). Just a heads‑up: July 27th falls right in the middle of Telluride’s summer season, which means festivals, sunshine, and lots of visitors. It’s a magical time to be here, but also a busy one — places book fast. If you’re considering an Airbnb or group stay, we definitely suggest booking early to snag the best spots.

Telluride Express & Mountain Limo

Telluride Express and Mountain Limo are the two main local shuttle services offering rides to and from both Montrose Regional Airport and Telluride Airport. They run reliable back‑and‑forth service, and most guests find them the easiest way to get into town. Once you arrive, you can officially forget about driving. Telluride is tiny, walkable, and charming in the best “small mountain town” way — almost everything you’ll need is within a 5‑minute walk. And our beloved gondola (yes, it’s free!) connects Telluride and Mountain Village, acting as our version of public transportation with jaw‑dropping views included. Because everything is so close and so accessible, we highly recommend skipping the rental car and simply using a shuttle to get here and back to the airport. We promise: once you’re in Telluride, you won’t miss being behind the wheel for a single second.

Acclimating to Telluride & High Altitude

Telluride sits at 8,750 feet, which means two things: The mountains are stunning. Your body might briefly wonder why you’ve brought it so close to the sky. Most people feel totally fine — but some experience the classic “Telluride Welcome Package”: a little headache, a faster heartbeat, or the sudden realization that walking up one flight of stairs feels like summiting Everest. Don’t worry… this is normal, and it passes quickly. A few friendly tips to help your body settle in: Water is your new best friend — drink it like it’s your job, seriously at least quadruple your water intake Take it slow your first afternoon (save the dance‑floor energy for the wedding) Maybe skip the tequila shots on night one — altitude makes them… ambitious Rest when you need to — even locals get winded sometimes Plan to get here a day or two early, acclimating for most usually takes 24- 48 hours Within a day, you’ll be fully in mountain‑mode and wondering why you don’t live here too.

July in Telluride

Telluride sits at high elevation, which means we’re basically a little closer to the sun than everyone else. The sunshine here is bright, warm, and intense (lots of sunscreen) — even when the forecast says 75°, it can feel more like 85–90°. With our clear mountain air (no smog, no haze, just pure sunshine), you’ll definitely want to pack summer clothes. But… this is July in Telluride, which means monsoon season likes to make a dramatic afternoon appearance. These quick rain showers usually last an hour or two and then disappear like nothing happened — often leaving behind the most magical rainbows stretching across the valley. For those cooler rainy moments and our crisp mountain evenings, bring a light sweater or a jacket (especially if you run cold). If you’re planning to explore — hiking, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or just wandering our trails — pack for adventure too. Telluride is a small, outdoorsy mountain town, and you’ll fit right in with comfy layers, activewear, and shoes you don’t mind getting a little dusty. In short: think sunny summer vacation, with a sprinkle of mountain mood swings and a high chance of rainbows.
