2014 Eric & Becky both join Greek Life at Hope College, running in overlapping social circles (neither remembers meeting the other; they’ve just always known who the other one was!) 2017 Becky asks Eric to help her move into her new rental. Some weeks later, they attend a party separately, and end up leaving together to get donuts. They’ve been together ever since! 2018 They get their first cat together, the lovely Ivy. 2021 They move into their first apartment together! 2022 Eric & Becky decide they don’t have enough chaos in their lives, so they decide to get their puppy, Griffin. A few months later, Becky finds a cat in the woods and they welcome Vernald into their little family. 2023 Eric proposes! 2024 After almost 7 years together, Eric & Becky invite you to celebrate their marriage! The Future Eric & Becky look forward to rescuing more animals, and attending many more metal shows together!

Eric proposed sneakily, and completely took Becky off-guard. On October 21st, 2023, Eric lured Becky to Leelanau Peninsula under the guise of enjoying the breathtaking fall colors. Becky was just thrilled that Eric suggested they go "up north", seeing as it's her favorite place to be. Eric knew the importance of keeping Becky occupied before proposing so that he could set up without suspicion. Being the clever man that he is, Eric suggested they go to Peterson Park, a beautiful, rocky expanse on Lake Michigan, where Becky was sure to be distracted by all the rocks and potential Petoskey stones. She was, in fact, extremely distracted, carefully inspecting the rocky shore for Petoskeys while giving a lecture on the best methods to find them. Becky inevitably found one, and was indeed so distracted trying to retrieve it, that when she heard Eric say, "Hey Becky, look at this cool rock I found!". "Hang on!" she replied. That's right: Eric was on one knee, his grandmother's ring at the ready, and Becky actually told him to hang on because she was in the middle of picking up a rock. Thankfully, she gathered the stone rather quickly and turned around to see Eric in position. With her attention now locked onto him, Eric calmly and confidently said a few words before ending with the classic question, "Will you marry me?" Becky's brain promptly shut off at the unexpected development, and she stared silently, unable to do anything but eventually nod aggressively. She apparently asked, "Is this real?", although she has no recollection of this and might've actually been in shock. Taking her hand, Eric slid on the ring, smiling like a love-struck fool while Becky was still incapable of speech. She eventually got it together, and slowly but surely pieced together every clue in reverse that she should've seen this coming. Eric was exceedingly smug, and continues to be - as is his right after doing such an amazing job. • • • The End (And also, The Beginning!)
