While in Ft. Lauderdale on vacation, Nate planned on popping the question to Kate at sunset on the beach. Due to rain, Nate had to change his plans and ask Kate earlier in the day to avoid showers. Nate asked Kate to go for a walk on the beach to see the ocean and the surrounding area of their hotel after breakfast. Kate suggested they change into workout clothes because "running on the beach would be so fun, right?" Nate said they needed to wear street clothes because he had a reservation for them down the beach later. While walking down the beach, it started to sprinkle, and Nate was worried the impending rainclouds would ruin his plans. After only 5 minutes of walking and Kate growing impatient at the lack of information being shared about their supposed destination, Kate said, "okay, seriously, where are we really going." Nate stopped, grabbed Kate's hands, and in all his awkward cuteness, said, "We're going right here." Nate asked Kate to marry him, to which Kate replied "YES!" The only two other people on the beach sitting nearby clapped and cheered. Kate looked over Nate's shoulder, and to her surprise, she saw someone running towards them, and shouting something loudly. She quickly realized it was Nate's good friend and coworker, Tom, with a camera, revealing he had been hiding by the lifeguard stand taking photos of the entire thing! Tom was a wonderful surprise and it was the icing on the cake to know we'd have photos of this moment forever. Tom is the best! The trio went to grab lunch. On their way there, it started downpouring and the streets were flooded with water past their ankles. They sloshed through the water and into a restaurant where they cheers to engagement and good friends... completely soaked, but we didn't care. We'll remember that day forever!
