We met when Carly came home to visit family in San Diego. Jonathan’s mom was intent on setting us up, but we were both resistant to the idea given the long distance between us and the idea of a family setup. By the first night, Carly had allured Jonathan with her dance move of “rolling the sushi” and Jonathan captivated Carly with a tequila shot and his fishbowl skills. We went on our first date soon after that involved sushi, Improv and wine... and the rest is history. We went to Belize with Jonathan's family which sealed our intent to be married there and Jonathan moved to DC 8 months later. We’ve enjoyed many travels, activities, and dinners together as well as happily endured bed bugs, quarantine, and any obstacles life has thrown our way.

We want to have a unified last name that symbolizes us coming together as a unit. Jonathan's biological father's last name was Hansen and we want to honor Randy and his grandparents in coming together.

It all started with Jonathan's amazing hashtag skills when we got together. Jonathan posted a compilation of photos on Instagram with accompanying hashtags that left our friends laughing to this day (#beach #thisisnotgoodbye #washingtondc). #cuties symbolizes the start of our relationship and that we are and will always be #cuties!
