Hans and Brianna met online in July of 2023. Hans found Brianna first, but she waited 2 weeks before responding to him while he was visiting family in the Philippines. In their first conversations, Hans revealed that he attended high school at Skutt Catholic with one of Brianna's dear friends from Creighton, Clara. That's when they realized they had both been at Clara and Max's wedding just a few weeks before! Hans thought she might remember him because he was proud of his eccentric outfit (pink pants and all), but she only remembered the noisy clinking of glasses at the "high school friends'" table behind her. Over the first few months, Hans enjoyed Brianna's adventurous attitude and attending all kind of new events around Omaha, she never wants to go the same place twice! Brianna loved Hans' determination and ability to set her ideas into action. During that first year, the two of them met each others' families and friends, enjoyed traveling to Missouri, Chicago, and Minnesota together, and trying new countless restaurants and recipes at home. Hans and Brianna also made some big steps of adopting a kitten, Rocky, together in 2024 and moving in together in 2025. The couple decided it was time to sit down with their jeweler, and Brianna's dad Rob, in May 2025 to talk about a custom ring for an impending engagement. During the months of planning the engagement, Hans organized a secret delivery of the ring by Rob from Chicago to Omaha, planned a surprise engagement party including out of town friends and family, and hired a photographer to capture the moment (including a photography studio, just incase of bad weather!). Brianna was pretty unsuspecting until a Facetime call a week before with some hints that were too difficult to ignore. The morning of the engagement, Brianna and Hans were both too nervous to be home together, so they made up all kinds of excuses to get out of the house: plan a grocery trip, walk around the farmer's market, and wander around the library for a few hours to pass the time. Later that evening, Hans brought Brianna to recreate one of their first dates at Lake Manawa. On the original date in 2023, Brianna had packed a picnic and researched the perfect spot to view the sunset over the lake, but ended up dragging Hans around the park for 2 hours without eating unable to find it. For the engagement, Hans had found the picture perfect spot and proposed with a scenic view over the lake. Brianna and Hans have had lots of fun planning a wedding to share with their friends and family. Brianna loves to dream of the design and DIY crafts, while Hans keeps them grounded in ironing out the logistics. We can't wait to celebrate with you next September!
